The PISCES 4-1-1

Element: Water
Ruling Planet: Neptune, Jupiter
Quality: Mutable
Nature: Negative, Feminine
Symbol: Fish

Health Alert: Pisces rule the feet and its structural bones and toes. They must be careful with sprains, stubbed toes, ankle issues, bunions, or broken bones. Since many Pisces are avid runners, dancers or sports-enthusiasts, they need to learn to guard their feet to avoid permanent damage or invasive surgery. Internally, Pisces rule the lymphatic system. They must take caution when it comes to internal inflammation, gland functions in general, and problems with drugs. Allergic reactions to drugs, and a susceptibility to addictions, can become a serious issue for Pisces, who use drugs and alcohol to escape reality or numb themselves from their intense emotions. These said emotions can cause Pisces to struggle with depression and psychosomatic illnesses more often than not. Most of their health issues stem from emotional distress, and as such, they tend to have a weak immune system to fight off colds, flu, sinus infections, or other illnesses. Therapeutic ways of avoiding addictive tendencies and reducing stress on the body would be yoga or Pilates, which most Pisces love because it helps them to feel spiritually aligned as well. Last but not least, Pisces tend to indulge in expensive tastes when it comes to rich foods. They should be wary of excessive drinking and eating, especially late night. Their bodies have a delicate system and their metabolism is a bit weaker than most.

Where to Find a Pisces: performing on-stage, whether it be a dance production, musical collaboration, or play. They are heavily involved in the arts, so when they aren’t on stage, they can likely be found working late hours in an art or dance studio, reading in a bookstore, rehearsing their lines with a cast mate, cooking in a restaurant, or attending a lecture on religion or philosophy. You may also find a lot of Pisces working in marketing or graphic design firms, as they get to apply their artistic skills in a corporate environment. You can also find them near water (ocean, lake, etc) meditating or just watching the scenery while writing down their latest poem or chapter in their novel. Most Pisceans are involved in charity work and the Church, so an easy target would be to go to a worship service or sign up for volunteer work in your area (animal shelters, soup kitchens, mentoring programs, campaign fundraising, etc). New Age workshops, readings, or events is a prime target for the typical Pisces, who is very in-tune with alternative lifestyles. This said lifestyle leads them to organic food markets and grocery stores, too. If all else fails, you are guaranteed to find a Pisces in a yoga or Pilates studio (and probably, they are teaching the class!).

How to Spot a Pisces: they are fairly easy to spot because they tend to stand out like a sore thumb in a crowd. Many of them have light eyes that are soft and soulful, which they use to analyze the environment around them. They won’t be the loud person in the room always talking. In fact, they will be the quiet one you have to draw out of their shell. Once they are drawn out, they can be quite witty and charming, surprising most people. A hearty laugh that throws their head back, and frequent movements of their head is also a noticeable trait (that “huh? me?” what?” movement). It’s almost as if they look like someone has splashed water on their face. Their faces, and facial movements, are quite expressive when they become animated—otherwise, they can look like a deer in headlights most of the time. They may wave their arms around when they talk as well, almost as if they are dancing or giving a grand speech in their head at the same time that they are sitting down and talking to you about their day. The women are drawn to floral prints and very feminine pieces (sheer fabrics, summer dresses, scarves, subdued prints, etc) that allow them to move easily and comfortably. The less glamorous Pisces woman will wear jeans and a fleece jacket or t-shirt all the time (and some kind of creative addition, like a scarf around their head, a cool/different piece of jewelry, or a fun headband) or have a more hippy look (flowing printed dresses an earth tones), and the more glamorous will have no problem decking herself out in jewels, a fur coat, and a plunging neckline showing her curvy figure (think of Elizabeth Taylor when she was young). She uses her clothes to define herself as either a sexy siren or a natural beauty. The men love wearing blues and greens, and will often be in khakis or some other relaxed-wear. In business, they are always in sharp suits and have impeccable taste. They like to look good—it helps them charm the women more so that they can get what they want!

How to Attract a Pisces: have a kind heart, an interest in the arts and in their passion for the arts, and be attractive. Pisces are very visual and don’t like things that look messy or in disarray—it throws them off balance. If you are a good soul, with a strong will, they will fall madly in love with you. Typically, a Pisces is first attracted sexually, but will wait to get to know you better before really falling in love (Do you have the same interests? Are you spiritual? Do you respect yourself? Are you a family person?). Ironically, even though Pisces are attracted to pretty people, they are turned off by materialistic ones. A Pisces man loves an attractive, feminine woman, but if she spends too much money on shoes, bags, or clothes, or expects that he spends his money on her, he is quickly turned off. He will view her motives as selfish, materialistic, and greedy. A Pisces woman is always looking for a man who is put together and successful. She needs to feel secure and taken care of, and a well dressed man with a good bank account is definitely the route to her heart, even if he can be slightly selfish or self-involved, she falls for his charms. The general rule of thumb, however, is just to be a good, nice person—someone that a Pisces considers to be honest, virtuous, and loyal. A wicked sense of humor will also help you. Many Pisces are in the entertainment industry, notably as comedians or actors, and love making people laugh. You should take to heart that Pisces have very volatile emotions, as well. This means they can be obsessed with you one moment, and disinterested in the next. Be willing to ride their emotional waves (and sometimes, tsunamis) if you want to spend a lifetime together.

How to Lose a Pisces: being more emotionally erratic than they are, loud, or pretentious, is a great way to get rid of your Pisces. They may hang in there for a while because they dig a little bit of the crazy (they are crazy too, after all), but they will quickly swim upstream after a short while. They loathe nasty behavior, ugly people, negative personalities, and irresponsible partners. Female Pisces are looking for a strong, alpha male to protect them; male Pisces are looking for a feminine, faithful and kind-hearted alpha female to nourish them. It’s really that simple. So, if you don’t fall within the lines, you simply don’t matter to a Pisces.

FAMOUS PISCES

FAMOUS PISCES

The PISCES Best & Worst List

Best Qualities: intuitive, nurturing and soulful, Pisces have a way about them that makes people drawn to them. Whether it is because they are mysterious, seem innocent, or make people feel coddled and needed, they are like Mother Nature radiating warmth and harmony. Romantic and charming, Pisces easily find partners in their life to fulfill their needs. Their creativity is limitless, whether they are a male or a female. Male Pisces tend to focus more on cooking or music, and are therefore often found running a kitchen or writing their own music and/or playing an instrument of their choice. Their girlfriends have swooned over their emotional sensitivity and way with words—especially when they put the words in a romantic poem or song while playing their guitar. Female Pisces are more apt to write (poems, short stories) or be an artist or dancer. They have a strong need to use their sense of touch and their free spirit in their creative endeavors and are not afraid to express themselves through dancing, painting, or singing. Regardless of their sex, Pisces are extremely expressive on paper and often live in a fantasy world. Their artistic inclinations just make them very different from the average Joe (or Jane). Their emotions are so strong and finely tuned that, when they become too overwhelming, they can turn them into something beautiful, if they so desire. Inclined to spirituality and New Age beliefs, Pisces is a sign that is typically psychic and somewhat mystical. As the oldest sign of the Zodiac that is also connected astrologically to Jesus Christ, they have profound wisdom and beliefs in a higher power. Many Pisces are strongly linked to churches and religious leaders, and/or are involved in charitable works, volunteering, holistic healing, or counseling.

Worst Qualities: Pisces live in a fantasy world that makes it seem as if they are oh-so-mysterious (people can’t help but wonder “what ARE they thinking about?”), but the reality is that they are so confused about how they feel that they very rarely can make a decision about which mood they are in or which direction to go. Indecisiveness is a big challenge for Pisces and can sometimes render them immutable and left whining and throwing a tantrum because they simply can’t decide between hot and cold, happy or sad, left or right. As fickle as a child, their decisions and actions are at the beck and call of their mood de jour. Making a commitment to a decision, feeling, or idea can be excruciating for them and they end up delegating the decision to someone else. Pisces say that they hate hurting someone’s feelings, but the truth is that many of them get a sadistic kick out of hurting the ones they love. They can be completely self-absorbed and self-centered, so it is hard for them to strike a fine balance between making a decision that is best for them while still making it seem as if they are putting other people’s feelings into consideration. Violent tempers, mood swings, possessive, and addictive personalities are very common to Pisces. Many are apt to deal with depression, jealousies, and feelings of inadequacy or unexplained sadness. Sometimes living in their own fantasy world with their head in the clouds makes the landing on Earth a crash and burn reality. Pisces need to learn to not transfer their own feelings of unhappiness or inadequacy onto their loved ones, or they may end up terribly alone. Also, when a Pisces has made up their mind, they can be incredibly loyal to that decision, which can be a heavy burden on those who don’t agree.

Best Matches: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio

Taurus thrives in the home and needs to feel protected, secure, and loved. Taurus, after all, is in love with the idea of love—wishing that the world is full of romance and sex. In comes Pisces, who, with a wave of a wand, can make all their dreams seem true. Both signs are also drawn to the intensity of touch and are very ethereal. They aren’t afraid to explore their sexuality together and see what happens in the bedroom. Spiritual conversations, intense emotional bonds, and a sense of comfort comes easily when these two signs are paired together. They will be best friends and lovers, which is, after all, the sweetest thing. Famous Couples: Javier Bardem (Pisces) and Penelope Cruz (Taurus), Cindy Crawford (Pisces) and Randy Gerber (Taurus), Eva Longoria (Pisces) and Tony Parker (Taurus), Liza Minnelli (Pisces) and David Gest (Taurus)

Virgo is Pisces perfect astrological opposite. This is to say that they can either be a great couple, or a horrible one. While Pisces may find making a decision hard, Virgo is more apt to say “this is what you do and how you do it.” And when both are stuck for a decision, the over-analytical Virgo and the dreamlike Pisces can sit together for hours arriving at the best decision and exploring all the pro’s and con’s of the situation. Virgo enjoys Pisces mystical and seemingly innocent (and slightly neurotic) side; Pisces delights in Virgo’s purity and strength. Virgo is always reliable when it comes to Pisces because a Virgo always feels the need to protect or nurture their wounded partner. However, Virgo can easily become annoyed with Pisces’ inconsistencies and inability to make decisions. Pisces can feel over-analyzed and criticized by Virgo. The truth is that both are at fault here by simply being who they are. Famous Couples: Cindy Crawford (Pisces) and Richard Gere (Virgo), Emily Blunt (Pisces) and Michael Buble (Virgo)

Capricorn’s drive, stamina, and discipline provide the backbone that the Pisces has always been searching for. Capricorns know how to get things done and get them done right, especially in business and finance. They seldom question their actions and just go for it, something which a Pisces can’t help but admire. Also, since Pisces tends to spend money a bit more recklessly, they benefit greatly by Capricorn’s shrewd financial planning and investment advice. So what does the Pisces bring to the table? Capricorns tend to be aloof and not evolved emotionally speaking—these goats can be a bit too harsh and cold while climbing to the top of that mountain. That’s where Pisces comes in, softening the rough edges of the Capricorn and calming them down, telling them when they are being inappropriate, mean, or too damn cold-hearted. Famous Couples: Penny Lancaster (Pisces) and Rod Stewart (Capricorn), Christine Baumgartner (Pisces) and Kevin Costner (Capricorn), Pat Nixon (Pisces) and Richard Nixon (Capricorn)

Cancer will feel at home in Pisces deep emotional waters; these two literally are as happy as a crab (Cancer) and a fish (Pisces) swimming together in the vast ocean. They are both emotional, sensitive and moody, and feel as if they have found their perfect soul mate in each other. Whether it is staying at home for a nice evening by candlelight, or reading a book in the corner of the living room while sipping on a nightcap, these two simply enjoy each other’s comforting presence. Cancer is a very witty and driven sign, as is Pisces, and together their conversations will flow smoothly and easily. More importantly, neither sign is afraid to call the other out on their BS, and knows when to leave well enough alone. Their union will be mystical, and their bond intensive and somewhat possessive, but that’s how they both roll when it comes to love. At the very least, both of them will be able to understand each other’s emotional volatility. Famous Couples: Kurt Cobain (Pisces) and Courtney Love (Cancer), Johnny Cash (Pisces) and June Carter Cash (Cancer), Vanessa Williams (Pisces) and Rick Fox (Cancer)

Scorpio’s more intense, sensual qualities invigorate Pisces to feel more sexual and sensual—these two will certainly have a romantically charged relationship where feelings and emotions seem very heightened and magnified. Both are very spiritual signs and will be drawn to an alternative lifestyle together and will judge each other rarely, and love each other permanently. They may not marry, but they will happily spend the rest of their lives together. Intellectual stimulation and friendship rules this couple first and foremost, but a healthy physical attraction is definitely there. They both sense what the other needs (for Scorpio, they need space and freedom, especially from judgment; for Pisces, they need attention, coddling, and adoration). Famous Couples: Kurt Russell (Pisces) and Goldie Hawn (Scorpio), Bruce Willis (Pisces) and Demi Moore (Scorpio), Michael Bolton (Pisces) and Nicollette Sheridan (Scorpio), Tom Arnold (Pisces) and Roseanne (Scorpio), Julia Cameron (Pisces) and Martin Scorsese (Scorpio), Elizabeth Taylor (Pisces) and Richard Burton (Scorpio), Alan Greenspan (Pisces) and Andrea Mitchell (Scorpio)

Worst Matches: Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, Pisces

Gemini’s mercurial wit and personality certainly charms the Pisces, who is mesmerized by Gemini’s social persona. Both signs are mutable, meaning they are able to adapt to the energy or changes in a room/environment. Their flexibility will be essential in making this pair last. Pisces may want to cling or attach themselves to Gemini’s rollercoaster ride—and it may last for a short while. That is, until the Gemini is tired of being bored by Pisces’ sensitive or possessive nature, desire to stay home, or depressive/quiet moods. The only thing Pisces would love to chat about non-stop is the way they are feeling about a situation, which is probably the quickest way to lose a Gemini who can’t STAND to talk about their feelings all the time and would probably prefer talking to a wall instead. Pisces can be too unreliable and unstable for Gemini, who needs a partner who will ground them and their flighty twins. That being said, if a Gemini has been wounded in love before, and craves a nurturing and committed soul, a Pisces may just fit the bill. Famous Couples: Seal (Pisces/Aquarius cusp) and Heidi Klum (Gemini), Drew Barrymore (Pisces) and Justin Long (Gemini), Ivana Trump (Pisces) and Donald Trump (Gemini), Drew Barrymore (Pisces) and Fabrizio Moretti (Gemini), Callista Gingrich (Pisces) and Newt Gingrich (Gemini)

Sagittarius and Pisces, at some point, will find themselves together. It doesn’t normally last long, and it normally doesn’t end well, but nonetheless, it is a trap they often fall into. Sagittarius falls for Pisces unworldly and imaginative persona. They are so intriguing and ethereal, that the Sagittarius feels challenged to “capture” the Pisces. It is important to note that this pairing is more common when the man is the Sagittarius and the woman is the Pisces. The female Pisces will fall for the charming Sagittarius man who is adventurous, funny and goal-oriented. As she is typically weak on those traits, she feels incredibly drawn to this “foreign” energy and wants to be a part of it for a while. Likewise, the Sagittarius man is humbled by the emotional, sensitive, and creative Pisces woman—she seems so delicate and charming and perfect. That is, until she starts crying because she doesn’t have his attention, or when she complains he doesn’t love her or show his emotions enough. The Sag gets annoyed by the wishy-washy Pisces and her inability to make a decision. Angers flare and the Pisces woman throws a bucket of water over the enraged fiery Sagittarius…and then it is over. Famous Couples: Chris Webber (Pisces) and Tyra Banks (Sag)

Leo is sexual and shows love and emotions easily (and demands a lot of attention), so at the very least, a Pisces and a Leo will not worry about expressing their feelings accordingly. Since Leo likes being in charge and telling others what to do, and Pisces is looking to be told what to do, this pair can actually work. HOWEVER, Leo hates whining and hates being held back by emotionally weakness, such as manipulation, depression, or moodiness. And Pisces do that oh-so-well. As long as Leo can handle Pisces’ emotional persona, and Pisces won’t take Leo’s bossiness as a symbol of domination, they may find love together. At the very least, they will find great sex. Famous Couples: Justin Beiber (Pisces) and Selena Gomez (Leo/Cancer Cusp), Tea Leoni (Pisces) and David Duchovny (Leo), Elizabeth Taylor (Pisces) and Eddie Fisher (Leo), Desi Arnaz (Pisces) and Lucille Ball (Leo), Lauren Graham (Pisces) and Peter Krause (Leo)

Two Pisces together is a disaster. Too many emotions, too little motivation, and far too little direction, leaves these two a complete mess together. Pisces needs a more practical counterpart (or backbone) to make it in this world. Famous Couples: Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig

Surprisingly Good Matches: Aquarius, Aries, Libra

Aquarius has a natural humanitarian instinct, which appeals to the nurturing Pisces. Yet, these two can have a limited fuse for one another. Aquarius tends to be too unemotional or unstable for the sensitive Pisces. While the Aquarius wants to be out and about, socialize and meet new people, the Pisces hates crowds or social events and prefers to be a loner and either stay at home, or watch and observe the crowd. Pisces do better in a one-on-one capacity with someone they know, and nothing, NOTHING, is as boring to an Aquarian as someone who doesn’t know how to carry a conversation with a complete stranger. Aquarius also tends to be a hard worker and puts in long hours at the office, always focusing on making money or vast improvements in the world. While Pisces respects this, they tend to thrive more on balance. Where they will understand one another is in trying to help mankind improve itself. They may pursue it from different angles (Aquarius thinks big, whereas Pisces thinks on a smaller scale), but pursue it they will. Both signs are incredibly charming, so they can channel their flirtatious personas into a very sexy relationship IF they are willing to understand one another’s differences and realize the treasure they have found in one another. If Aquarius is smart enough to acknowledge how lucky they are to have a soulful Pisces in their life to calm them down, and if Pisces is willing to admit they need Aquarius to motivate them to be the best person they can be, then they wouldn’t be such a bad couple after all. They could be great, in fact. Famous Couples: Jessica Biel (Pisces) and Justin Timberlake (Aquarius), Rachel Weisz (Pisces) and Darren Aronofsky (Aquarius), Elizabeth Taylor (Pisces) and John Warner (Aquarius), Stedman Graham (Pisces) and Oprah Winfrey (Aquarius), Paul Newman (Aquarius) and Joanne Woodward (Pisces)

Aries can be very superficial and needs to be in the spotlight at all times. Since Pisces can be turned off by excessive material wealth, this can be a weird match. BUT, if the man is the Aries in this picture, and the female is a Pisces, then there is some hope. A female Pisces loves being taken care of and loves feeling rich, decked out in jewels, fur coats, and expensive décor. She almost has a childlike delight at feeling like the princess in her own fairytale world. The Aries man thrives in providing her all of these things, especially since she looks so great in them and she is so appreciative of these gifts. He provides her not only with material security, but also a sense of adventure. If she doesn’t get jealous of his flirtatious character, and he doesn’t get bothered by her clingy behavior, they can really work well together. Famous Couples: Freddie Prinze Jr. (Pisces) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Aries), Mitt Romney (Pisces) and Ann Romney (Aries)

Libra is all about harmony, balance, aesthetic pleasure, and peace. For this reason, Pisces can’t help but feel attracted to the world their charming Libra has created for them. As long as Pisces isn’t bothered by Libra’s social personality and constant over-analyzing, and Pisces doesn’t pull their infamous bouts of rage or temper tantrums, these two can co-exist very happily together. They just need to understand that their temperaments and personalities are different—but not different enough to give them a shot at trying it out. The Libra is a go-getter, planner and motivator. All of which are Pisces’ weakest traits. The Pisces is emotionally thoughtful, purposeful and sensitive, all of which can sometimes be Libra’s weakest traits. This pair can be a ying to the other’s yang if the stars are aligned correctly when they meet. Famous Couples: Chris Martin (Pisces) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Libra), Jon Bon Jovi (Pisces) and Dorothea Hurley (Libra), Dana Reeve (Pisces) and Christopher Reeve (Libra), Joel Madden (Pisces) and Hilary Duff (Libra)

A Year End Astrological Review

Well, you did it. Correction: WE did it. We ended another year, another chain of karmic coincidences, another period of spiritual enlightenment. Even if this year was shitty, depressing, bad, or just down right AWFUL, you still learned a lot and are a stronger and better person for having survived it without landing in jail, a mental ward or at a bar every night until last call being THAT drunk idiot. OK, if any of the above does apply to you, well, maybe this year sucked for you more than others (bright side? 2008 is around the corner!).

The end of another year always makes us reevaluate, analyze and question our decisions. What did we do wrong? What did we do right? What would we do again if given the chance? (This last question applies to both the good AND bad things we may or may not have done).

Have you done your mental checklist? Are you waiting for a post-drunken epiphany on New Year's Day before you begin? How about a head start?

Clearly, I am going to take stock of this year not only in terms of my own personal life, but also in terms of astrological profiling. Listen, I have a BLOG about ASTROLOGY. Obviously I kinda, sorta believe in this stuff. And since I like drawing comparisons/statistics between things and pulling together scientifically based conclusions (translation: I am drinking a glass of wine and thinking of all the weird coincidences of this past year and suddenly thought "WOW, what a GREAT post this would make for my blog."), I thought it would be fun to do a year end review for all the signs out there.

Yep. I am THAT crazy.

OK, so here is how my mental process went. I started thinking of everyone in my life and then divided them by their signs (I actually do this automatically anyways...a scary fact about the way my mind works). Then, I started thinking about their lives this past year. Then I started realizing that they all had...the SAME year. It shocked me when I realized that all my Virgo's had some SERIOUS decisions to make about their career, love lives, property and health (note the emphasis on health). All my Sagittarians worked harder than ever and made more money than ever...but still didn't know what to do. The Cancers all ran into their shells to avoid the world and de-stress from the pressures mounting in their lives. And my dear Geminis...ouch, what a dooze 2007 was, eh? Lots of drama, tears, new changes and beginnings. Some good, some, well, ouch.

I could keep on going, but then I would give everything away!!!

So, take time to read this list. Find your sign. See how well it applies to you. Keep in mind that I also thought of famous celebrities, my own coworkers and extended family/friends while doing this. It doesn't just apply to YOU (I have many Leo friends, and they automatically will assume this is all about them, so I have to put in this advanced disclaimer before I get the third degree from them).

The Year End Astrological Review

Capricorns: you asked for new changes in your work environment for a more flexible schedule…you didn’t think you would get it, but life can surprise you—you DID! Awesome, because you were THIS close to quitting. The hours were just getting too long. New money flowed into your bank account and it pleased you, especially since you found yourself SPENDING more of it this past year. Most Capricorns purchased a new home or new large object (car, wardrobe, furniture, business, etc) and spent time thinking of how to decorate it or improve it. This all ties in to you deciding you were tired of a lot of status quo things in your life. So what better way to combat status quo than to start PLANNING for new things on the horizon? And plan you did! You focused a lot on home improvements or building up a nest-egg for a new home. This year was great exercise in balancing your financially conservative nature with your desire to spend a lot to make things “just right.” Now that your job doesn't feel like the ball and chain it used to be, things are looking pretty darn good for 2008. Especially since Jupiter, the planet of luck, just moved into your sign for an ENTIRE YEAR. That's the equivalent of winning the astrological lottery.

Aquarians: this was a year of a lot of emotional turmoil and stress; planning for the future and that next chapter in your life was harder than you thought, huh? You worked excessively long hours and many of you didn’t think it was worth it. After all, you don’t even LIKE what you do or who you do it for! Huge emotional commitments were made as well: you either stayed in a relationship (forever?) or learned to let the ones that didn’t work go...forever. But that doesn't mean temptation didn't cross your path a few times first. You ended this year on a surprisingly optimistic and more hopeful beat than it started. Those emotional seas of turmoil have calmed down and it is smooth sailing right now. Nice. Enjoy! You certainly deserved it. Your body was buzzing with negativity and stress for way too long. And all those trips and plans (both professional and personal)…what a burn-out! Did you even manage to spend 2 weekends in a row at home this year? Didn’t think so…The good news is that you are now focusing on your career and life purpose. What to do next??...hmmm....seems like 2008 will be a defining year for you and that new project you are about to embark on. If you haven't done it yet, take note: quitting your job is involved in this new chapter.

Pisces: you are feeling more at peace with yourself this year. Life looks good. Many plans, parties and social obligations (that were entirely fun, and often planned by YOU) took up your calendar. Home is a safe haven and you enjoyed the company of your own four walls the best…especially with that certain someone. A few setbacks and disappointments about advancements at work/school popped up…but as the saying goes “Everything happens for a reason.” You focused on responsibility, maturity and life goals this year. WOW. You ARE growing up! Feels good, huh?

Aries: you were the star of your own show this year. Plenty of dazzling events to go to, lots of partying and, let’s be honest, you haven’t been this selfish (and that happy AND good at it) in a long time. It was all about you this year. Awesome. Some of you questioned your commitments and whether you made the right decision to be with that person…and you did. Even if it isn’t the “forever” type, they are who you need to be with right now. And don’t worry that you haven’t found a new job just yet. The truth is, you don’t know what you want to do next. So take a deep breath and figure it out while sipping on some eggnog at the holiday parties coming up. If you DID find a new job...isn't it funny how it was right under your nose the entire time? Lucky lucky you.

Taurus: you can’t be happy until you figure out who you are. And you can’t do that until you stop the soap opera dramas. It’s been a weird year, hasn’t it? Many of you found yourselves having to choose between a past and a present love, only to realize the past love is in the past for a reason…So you focused diligently on work, home (many of you redecorated), and balancing yourself out. Family was a big key for you and you found yourself happier around them than ever before. Like the bull you are, you decided to cement your roots this year, professionally and personally, and decided to be happy with your decision, regardless of the outcome. But, why is it you feel a bit quiet inside lately?? Things need to change. But HOW?

Geminis: it’s not been the best year, has it? You used wit, sarcasm and humor to get (or really, claw) your way through, but it seemed that everyone around you had drama, drama, drama…and since you didn’t want to focus on your own drama, you happily volunteered to be a sounding board. Work pressures (or rather, hours) have mounted, your health has taken a beating (one too many colds from all that stress), and you just need to SLEEP for a while. But it’s hard to do that when you constantly find something else to do, have another drama to solve, or just can’t sit still. Sadly, one too many Gemini’s (aka, all of them) had to deal with grief and mourning of losing loved ones this year and also had to come to terms with their less than stellar love life. Wow. Ouch. Work hasn’t motivated you, your love life needs to be rekindled, and drama is all around you. Congrats for still floating above water. The good news is many of you changed locations to a new home and had fun decorating it. Some of you relocated to a new job. Either way, the change of scenery at least kept you busy! And your wallets empty. Stop spending so much money!!

Cancers: as Frank Sinatra said, “I did it my way”…and boy did you this year. Most of you became extremely reclusive, suddenly realizing that most people around you exhausted you mentally and emotionally. You needed to become a hermit, draw yourself back in, regroup, rethink and reanalyze those next steps. This didn’t stop you from being there for your best friend in need, but you did it at a distance. Many of you asked for promotions and raises…and got them. It’s been a great year for professional advancements and new beginnings, notably summer onwards. The first half of this year kinda sucked. That’s why you decided to focus on YOU for the second half. How is it working for ya? It’s a bit lonely to be alone all the time, isn’t it? At the very least, you realized one important thing: you stress and worry too much about the wrong things and need to worry about you first and foremost. Since your love life proved to be counter-productive this year, maybe this new “balance” will help make for a better year in 2008? Embark on that new career, go after that person you want, and make 2008 more extroverted than 2007 (which isn't that hard to do, you little hermit you!).

Leos: changes, changes and more changes this year. Leo’s certainly had a lot on their plate in 2007. Many of you completely changed your lives, changed jobs, changed homes, and changed your perspectives. You took charge because, let’s face it, you just weren’t happy where you were before. You wanted more challenges, more stability, more money and more love. Challenges, well, you got them. Making so many big life choices all in one year brings a lot of baggage and issues to the surface. New projects and responsibilities seemed overwhelming. Many of you thought “WHAT have I gotten myself into?!” But it is starting to work out, isn’t it? You are starting to regain control and those changes you made…well, they are starting to look pretty good. Does this mean you are happy? Not quite. There are still some major issues nagging at you. Especially in your love life. Is he/she really the right one? Do they make you feel happier? Hmmm. BIG question there. Some of you answered it and ended things; others are still hoping for the best outcome. But you just aren’t sure what that is yet. Thankfully that new job or life altering change (work, home, both) is consuming your mind and allowing you to push other issues (that you quite frankly don’t feel like dealing with) aside. But one thing can’t be pushed aside: your finances. This year has been all about budgets, finances, errors in your bank reports, making more money professionally, investing more money, etc etc. Hey, all those changes have a price tag! And a pretty hefty one in your case.

Virgos: if you don’t see a hospital or a doctor again for the next 5 years, you will have thought you won the lottery. It’s been a dooze of a year health-wise for you. Many of you found yourselves dealing with significant health issues (yours AND those you love) and just wishing you could get a break. Your love life could be best defined as “rocky road ice cream.” Some parts sweet and enjoyable, other parts a bit tougher to chew. Many realized you were with the wrong person—they didn’t complete you, they didn’t understand you and more importantly, they didn’t love you the way you wanted to be loved. Frustrations mounted as you wondered “Do they love me? Where do I stand with them?” and suddenly you thought, “Wait, do I LOVE THEM?” Ah. That’s the million dollar question. You keep tossing the idea in your head "should I or shouldn't I end it?" The truth is, when you can't decide, it's because you know they aren't the right person. You of all people are looking for THE One. Sure, you love them. But you aren't IN love with them. But you hanged in there(maybe you still are) because, well, you wanted it to work out. It sucks being out there and being alone again, doesn’t it? Wouldn’t anyone be better than that certain selfish someone? Find a new job that you love, because the one you are in right now…it sucks. And you know it. You are ready to throw in the towel and start going after what you really want. Problem is, it is hard to let go of routines. Also, were you trying to sell a home or invest in a new one? Property was a huge issue for you in 2007. Why? Because you want to settle down. Finally, the elusive bachelor/bachelorette is ready for commitment. The question is: who will be that lucky person? And, how are you going to get them? Many of you know who you want that person to be, but you are just too damn scared to go after them. It gets pretty easy to be alone all the time and not socialize. You should know. You invented the system. Now you need to learn how to let someone into your private world. Game on.

Libras: it has been a sweet year, hasn’t it? Life seemed to have more purpose this year, more humor, more laughter and more love than ever before. Many of you are looking forward to the sweet things that 2008 have in store for you. It’s not about work, it’s not about responsibilities…it was all about love, family and your home this year. You dreamed of traveling and actually did it. You dreamed of painting your home in the color you wanted those walls to be, and you did it. The kitchen got new granite counters and stainless steel appliances and the new patio looks great. Home is actually more fun this year than ever before! You wanted to feel loved and appreciated…and it happened. People found themselves looking at you and thinking, “What’s your secret? You look…happy.” There is no secret. You just WERE. And it shows. Especially in your waistline…food is all the more tempting when you are footloose and fancy free. Go ahead and enjoy it.

Scorpios: blah blah blah. It’s been a pretty non-eventful year, hasn’t it? Life was calmer than ever before, which is probably a good thing since last year was a dooze. You just needed downtime, and you got it. Your energy has been a bit drained though. Is that because you aren’t entirely happy with life right now? Nothing is wrong, per say, it’s just that things don’t feel entirely right either. It doesn’t make sense! And when you talked to your friends about it, they didn’t understand either. This probably was your biggest source of frustration. Thankfully, you traveled this year and you realized the importance of quality vs. quantity in friends. One thing you know you want to work on: being less judgmental. Maybe your laissez-faire attitude towards most everything this year made you more sensitive to BS. You don’t know why, but you suddenly felt the need to call people out on their crap. The great news is that most people in your life needed that.

Sagittarians: BAM! SLAM! OOH! AHH! What a year! You rock n’ rolled your way through it with tons of stories, events, changes and decisions. Status quo wasn’t going to cut it this year, huh? You changed jobs or focused more on your professional pursuits. It came down to this: what is going to get me the most money possible to fund my lifestyle? Many of you became obsessed with saving enough money for a new home, or for eventually buying a new home. You earned more this year than ever before, but you also found yourself easily spending it. Sticking to regiments became almost a religion to you: restarting your daily exercise routine, beginning a new one, or deciding which one to focus on became a goal. You wanted to know the best way to be healthy, wealthy and wise in 2007. If something wasn’t worth your time, well, you just didn’t do it. Work became overly demanding and you started to think, “Am I getting paid enough to do this?” The answer was “No.” So you decided to do something about it. Meanwhile, people around you started to piss you off this year. Their inability to see life the way you saw it, to be on your bandwagon, or to just LEAVE YOU ALONE really bothered you. The one downside? Many of you stayed with someone because you couldn’t shake them off. Either because they were stalking you or because you just didn’t want to deal with breaking up. The end result is the same: when people ask you about them, you just grunt, roll your eyes, and sigh and say “It is what it is.”

Now, if any of this sounds familiar...well, just know you aren't alone!!! Hopefully, you will take this time to figure out how to make changes that are good for you in 2008. Start thinking of what you would like to read in your December 2008 "Year End Astrological Review" and go about becoming the change you wish to see written in my blog.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...Perfect gifts for your signs.

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas (Hannukkah, Kwanza, et al). It’s time to bake cookies, buy fruitcakes, listen to holiday music and decorate your homes. Oh, I forgot one last important thing: it’s time to eat and drink A LOT. Wait, that’s not it either. Oh yeah, it’s time to buy gifts.

Crap.

Unless someone spells it out for you, it is hard to think of what to buy people you love (or even hate). So, checklist time:

Parents
Children
Brothers/Sisters
Misc. Relatives (Aunts/Uncles, Grandparents, Godparents)
Spouse/Partner
Friends
Co-Workers
Bosses
Doormen/Building Staff
Newspaper Delivery person

And on, and on, and on………………………

How nerve-wracking AND expensive. We need a cheat sheet of what to buy everyone. So, of course, I am going to suggest a few items based on their signs. I know, I know, ANOTHER list coming your way. So I am going to make this as simple, short and sweet as possible (after all, you shouldn’t have that much free time on your hands right now…you should be shopping! For gifts! Or drinking!). While I don’t feel like helping you on EVERY person on that above list, I can help you with getting something for that certain someone. Hey, this is a LOVE blog after all!

What to buy an…

EARTH Sign (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo):

Earth Signs have had a tough year. They have had to make a lot of important decisions about their future (career, love life, health) that will affect them for years to come. They were stressed out this year and felt pulled in many directions…very few of which they actually wanted to go. 2007 was a year of obligations, poor health, and many decisions on how to make it better for 2008.

You can make your Earth sign happy by giving them something to pamper themselves with. I suggest the following:

Capricorn: they love their food. Buy them either a gift certificate, or take them to dinner, at their favorite restaurant. Wine and dine them and spare no expense. Let them know how much they mean to YOU and how much you need them in your life. Tell them it will all be OK. If you want to earn extra bonus points, rent a hotel room (of course, it better be a luxury one!) for the night and break out some massage oil and champagne. You figure out the rest.

Taurus: they love their drinks. Buy them an expensive bottle of wine/champagne/liquor. Preferably two of them. You could earn bonus points by putting this all together in a classy gift basket with some cheeses, crackers and other delectable items. Encourage them to enjoy some time on their own with wonderful treats to try out while relaxing to some great music, candles lit, and maybe soaking in a bath.

Virgo: they love their relaxation. Buy them an intensive spa package for a massage, haircut, manicure & pedicure, etc. Their health has suffered a lot this year and they have over-stressed themselves with all the problems in their life this year (health, wealth, career and love…WOW). Give them the much needed downtime/ “me time” they so desperately crave. That way they can relax, go home and start writing their resolutions for 2008 in a better frame of mind.

AIR Sign (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra):

Can you say “Change is in the AIR”? What a year it has been for Air Signs! Many new changes have come at them out of the blue. New jobs, new homes, new lovers, new commitments…some even welcomed new family members or began planning a new family! Change inevitably brings stress, uncertainties, and insecurities.

You can make your Air sign happy by giving them something to smile about and feel secure about…one less decision to make. I suggest the following:

Aquarius: they love feeling understood. They have been emotionally spent this year trying to figure out why they haven’t been so happy with their lives recently. Some of this is due in part to their job that they hate (OK, 99.9999% of it has to do with the job they hate), but since most of them are about to get a new job or have finally quit, that is one less thing on their plate to worry about. Well, that is, except for you. They needed you a lot this year and were quite emotional when you weren’t around (or felt you were pulling away). Tell them you love them and want to be with them. Tell them you understand how hard they have worked and stressed they have been, but despite all, you loved them. Write them a poem, a love letter, or compile a CD for them. Whatever it is, do it from the heart. If all else fails, donate money to their favorite cause...they dig that humanitarian thing.

Gemini: they love new experiences and surprises. Gemini are no stranger to nervous energy/anxiety…especially this year. They felt overworked, overwhelmed and undervalued. Many changes happened for them (notably a change of residence or work) and they are now just starting to feel a bit more settled (albeit tired!). They feel that although it has been a crazy ride, someone else was driving. Buy them a ticket to go somewhere special and SURPRISE them with it (they love that). Right now, your Gem wants a change of scenery, even if it is only for a weekend getaway. Take them somewhere where they can relax and de-stress, but also have things to do…(wine vineyard? Skiing? Random road trip?)

Libra: they love being loved. Libra thrives on feeling needed and adored. They get their balance through harmony, peace and contentment. Since this year has actually been a pretty good one for your Libra, the best thing you can do is toast to 2007 (with a super expensive champagne) and tell them that the best is yet to come. Since they love aesthetic surroundings, take them on a carriage ride (or limo) throughout the city with the best champagne; or a drive to see all the holiday decorations. Just remember: they will need a nice coat, scarf or gloves for this adventure. Make sure it is classy, designer and the right size.

FIRE Sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius):

Money, money, money! This year has been a huge financial and professional focus for your Fire Sign. They worked hard to climb up that ladder to make the money they know they are worth. If someone didn’t give it to ‘em, well, they left and went on to greener pastures. Right now, Fire signs are looking for financial stability and professional development. Sure, their personal life may have suffered a bit, but you won’t find many of them complaining about it.

You can make your Fire sign feel empowered by letting them know how proud you are of them for all they have accomplished this year. I suggest the following:

Aries: they love expensive things. Your Aries is no stranger to the finer things in life; in fact, he/she demands only the best. While that may be a considerable price tag for you to pick up, just remember all the treats they gave you this year. Return the favor. Buy them some expensive toiletries/products so they can look beautiful…for YOU. If you are tired of buying them products, go to their next favorite thing: electronics. Get them the latest and greatest phone, DVD player, stereo, iPod or something super tech.

Leo: they love to be turned on. Leo thrives on sex, passion and love (ok, also power and control) and feels solidified in their relationship with you when you show them just how much you want them. Buy them some sexy lingerie, take them somewhere special, treat them to an evening of foreplay: cocktails, dinner, dessert, dancing, a 4-star hotel room…and the rest can be left up to your Leo. If you can’t do all this for them, give them a bracelet or ring (um, not necessarily THAT type of ring), that symbolizes how much you love them and think of them. It will touch them that you care and it will delight them how beautiful it looks on.

Sagittarius: they love their adventures. Sagittarius loves trying out new things, meeting new people, taking an adventure so they can tell everyone about it. Don’t make them stay at home. Get them tickets to the theater to see their favorite production/play/opera. Then take them to the newest club or restaurant that opened up so they can feel they are the first to try it out. And be generous on the booze…they want to celebrate this year because, dammit, they worked hard and deserve to celebrate! If you want to earn EXTRA points, get them tickets to a destination of their choice. Yes, that may be a pricey gift, so if it blows your budget, settle on buying them some luggage or a carry on for their next trip.

WATER Sign (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio):

Drama, drama, drama! This has been a year of a lot of emotions for your water sign…a rollercoaster, if you will. Why? Well, good question. They don’t KNOW why. Something is missing from their life and they aren’t sure what it is. Are they in the right career? With the right person? What do they want to do next? What will make them happy? These are tough life decisions to be made…and they know it is not something that can be done overnight. Problem is, they don’t know where to start. Hint: crying alone at home isn’t the answer.

You can make your Water sign feel more stable by contributing to their personal/spiritual growth …maybe you will be the catalyst to helping them see what needs to be changed in 2008 for a better year. I suggest the following:

Pisces: they love being introspective. Sure, they can be quite charming and engaging when they want to be…but inside they are feel quiet, introspective and “still.” There is too much noise around them and they need some quiet time without any interruptions and also feel as if they are physically well. Pisces are very sensitive to any nuances in their bodies…so stress is not a good. But what works first is a quiet mind. Get them a membership to their local gym, yoga club or even to the Kennedy Center (or some kind of Opera/Broadway/Art Performance Center). Either of these options will allow them to relax and take in some very much needed “me time” while simulatenously feeding their body and/or mind.

Cancer: they love being left alone at home in a cozy environment. It’s been a stressful year and very upsetting—too many emotional/personal setbacks have made most Cancers retreat into their own personal shells. And since they don’t literally have a shell, they have chosen the comforts of their own home-- the place they love most because they feel warm and secure. Buy them a gift card to Pottery Barn, Crate&Barrel or World Market so they can buy some items for their living room or bedroom. If you don’t like gift cards, buy them several scented candles to light and maybe a soft and comfortable throw/blanket to cuddle up into while smelling the candles burning. While you are at it, throw in some kind of book they can get absorbed in (politics, self-help, or even a journal).

Scorpio: they love exploring mysteries and feeling soulful. Scorpio has had quite an unproductive year…it’s neither been great or awful. It’s just BEEN. That in and of itself may be the “worst” part; they feel a year has gone by without anything truly significant having happened. While there is little you can do about this, you can maybe tell them they are lucky to have had calm waters for the majority of this year and to start planning ahead for 2008 to be more eventful. What is REALLY missing for your Scorpio is a feeling of an intense connection to ANYTHING. So enroll them in an art class, book club, or cooking course. Give them a membership to their favorite museum. Get them involved in something they are passionate about. Once their juices are flowing again with creativity and purpose, they won’t feel so sluggish getting out of bed in the morning.

Happy Holiday Shopping!!!

Does a sign always have to be... a sign?

Ugh. Ew. My co-workers are all Cancers. Great. And that cute guy I met last night? He was a Pisces. Blech. Turns out my boss is a Taurus. God help me. Not even my cat is a good match...damn Capricorn.

My love life, career, and entire future are compromised of all the WRONG signs for me. How can this make me lucky?!

Does this sound like you? Do you know that, in general, you are surrounded by people whom you know aren't good astro matches for you? For example, even if you can't remember their exact sign, you know there are cerca 4 Scorpios, 3 Capricorns and a sprinkling of Cancers in your life, all of which don't bode well for your Libra self. Or that all your co-workers are born in the same month, and you are pretty sure it is the WRONG half of the month, astrologically speaking, for your compatibility with them?

Well, this is certainly a common "problem" to have. And by a certain age in our lives, if we DO track peoples' signs, we begin to spot out the "troublemakers" in our lives. I can't tell you how often people say to me (whilst having a convo about signs) "Ugh, I HATE Virgo's, they make me mad and frustrated; I need a Sag in my life." OK, sorry Virgo's, they don't only say that about you! But I was using you as an example. I will try for a nicer one next time so you don't spend the rest of the time reading this post wondering "Why does she hate me?" and start compiling a list of possible reasons as to why I could (in bullet point format). Don't bother. Go back to bed and take a nap...if you aren't still IN bed.

See? Even I just made a huge generalization of all the Virgo's I know. And if someone were to ask me "Who would you date sign-wise?", while I don't like to discriminate, I would probably be quick to list off certain signs on my "sh*t list" dating-wise.

But is that fair of me?

Are we too quick to judge harshly based on someone's sign, thereby not even giving them a chance? Do we like someone because they are a certain sign and therefore disregard (sometimes blatantly) all the main issues they have?

I think I have mentioned before how important it is to "date out of your astro box." Just because you are a Scorpio doesn't mean you should never ever date an Aquarius, a Sagittarius or another Scorpio. Seriously. Try them all out and see how they fit-- after all, it could be an easy trial run, you may cry "uncle" by the second date anyways! After a while you will start to notice your own compatibility with each sign. You will begin to notice "Hmmm, Sag's make me irrationally frustrated and I never know where I stand with them; while they are fun, I can't take them seriously in a relationship." Or, "You know, I LOVE Aquarians; I always date them and I think I will end up marrying one."

Now, be careful not to fall into the trap of "I ONLY will end up with an Aquarius, so if I meet a Libra, well, they are sh*t out of luck." Another sign may come along and surprise you.

A sign doesn't always have to be a sign!!! AKA, just because someone is a certain sign doesn't mean it is a sign that you should/should not give them a chance.

Don't auto-assume a person is a certain way just because they are a certain sign (don't forget, there are 11 other planets in their charts that they are dealing with!). And don't disregard a certain sign because you didn't like the last Cancer in your life. OK, note to self: if EVERY Cancer you know has screwed you over, then maybe you should steer clear of them, OK? Let them crawl into the sand and suffocate on their own. You keep on moving. Same goes if you tend to only date Sag's and realize that you never get far with them in terms of commitment. Maybe you should walk away from Sag's for a while? After all, when a Sag wants you, they will certainly chase after you and not give up.

I think the key is to not let predominate traits or stereotypes control our thinking. What am I talking about? OK, here is a cheat sheet:

Capricorn: they aren't always so serious and money-driven. Cap's love to be artistic and out-going and put flair into their lives (either through fashion, food, or travel). They can just as easily enjoy a super pricey meal at the best restaurant in town as much as they will enjoy a BBQ with close friends and family in their own backyard.

Aquarius: they aren't always so crazy. They love the security and comforts of their own home and can be quite happy to spend a night in with a glass of wine and talking all night with their best friend, lover, parent, pet, etc. Heck, sometimes they just enjoy talking to themselves! And if chattering isn't on their mood for the night, they will most likely occupy themselves with the latest book on the best-sellers list (most likely an inspirational true story or something about politics/human rights...if they aren't feeling intellectual that evening, they will be reading Vogue about fashion trends).

Pisces: they aren't always so soulful and withdrawn. Pisces love to go out and try new things and can be quite self-absorbed and temper-driven. They hate being wrong and are the first to tell you they don't like something (or passively aggressively tell you they don't like something, thereby "manipulating" you into doing exactly what they want you to do). Very very smart, and somewhat sly, for a sign that is supposed to be "so pure." You may wonder why this sounds mean when I am trying to sound positive. But this IS positive. Pisces get painted too often with the "do-gooder" brush. It's refreshing to know those little angels can be quite devilish and devious sh*ts.

Aries: they aren't always so materialistic. Aries love to be around their family and friends, and that doesn't mean it has to be in a posh club, restaurant or bar. Sure, they like knowing they CAN go to those places, but as long as they are in the company of those they love, they feel pretty damn good and may leave their wallet at home and just enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

Taurus: they aren't always so stubborn...well, most of the time. Taureans love harmony and peace and don't like fights because it disrupts their sense of harmony. So, you may find them conceding to group consensus rather than fighting for their way all the time. This doesn't happen often...and when it does, they pout about not getting their way so that you feel guilty. So take advantage of the rare times they digress from a fight and treat it as a gift from God.

Gemini: they aren't always so flighty and talkative. Gemini's are very independent and thrive on the necessity of being alone when doing things. They can entertain themselves quite well and often enjoy not having to spend the mental energy to entertain someone else. And, surprisingly, they are all great listeners. Being the Kings and Queens of Communication doesn't mean just talking. Communicating is also about listening. So grab your Gem and talk their ear off. They love it. Just be prepared for a long response from them in which they have thoroughly analyzed everything you just said.

Cancer: they aren't always so emotional and hermit-like. When they feel feisty, this sign LOVES to go out and party and be the center of attention. Sure, they may regret it the next day, so take advantage of those nights they want to party. It's a treat! And despite their being so emotional about SO many different things, this sign can also be inordinately aloof about other things or withdrawn from showing any emotion. It's all very very suspicious.

Leo: they aren't always so vain and proud. If you have earned the loyalty, love and/or friendship of a Leo, they will pretty much walk through a pile of garbage (without shoes!) if you needed them too. OK, who am I kidding? Leo's are always vain and proud. But they will be willing to push that aside if you need them to be there for you. Just remember they will want you to return the favor. Possibly by stroking their ego many many times over telling them how wonderful they are.

Virgo: they aren't always so damn analytical and critical. It's true. Sometimes this sign can turn off their highly charged mind and just LET GO. They can be quite masterful at it when they do...they can indulge in the longest naps EVER, laugh (and they always have great laughs), relax all day on the beach, or plan a vacation. It's a beautiful, lighter side of them. It doesn't last long (because, no matter what they do, even if it is grabbing a drink at Starbucks, they are always analyzing at SOME level...soy or skim milk? which is better according to the latest health reports? is this healthy for me? whatever, I just ran a few miles. Maybe I should run some more. I guess I will go with 2% milk.) And so on...

Libra: they aren't always so balanced. In fact, they almost always aren't. They are quite neurotic and are always operating on a high level of action. So don't idealize their deceptive cool manner. Inside, they are going crazy. And it's fun to know what they are thinking! They have quite devilish minds and are full of opinions...some being sassier than others.

Scorpio: they aren't always so dark and depressed. This month at least. Scorpio's can be wonderfully charming and witty and outgoing, sometimes confusing us at first with their neighboring sign, Sagittarius. You can look at your Scorpio and think "Wow, nothing phases this sign out. They are so calm." But, as with a cat that slowly starts to move its' tail when it gets annoyed to alert you that they are NOT happy with you, keep in mind that Scorpio's behave quite similar...but unlike a cat's tail, theirs is a nasty stinger.

Sagittarius: they aren't always so commitment phobic and aloof. Sag's will be the first to come to your aid, give you the shirt off their back, help you out with whatever you need. It's true! They love to pamper and take care of those they love...it makes them feel needed and loved, which is something they secretly fear they will never have or find. Sag's are great friends and can make great life partners. If you have a cold, they will be the first to go buy you medicine and get you food from your favorite restaurant. Just give them space to then go and do their own thing while you recover. They don't want to catch your cold! That would mean having to stay IN. Gasp!

So, those are some brief stereotypes and ways to look around them. Above all, keep an open mind. Don't let a person's sign make you jump to conclusions...at least, not just yet.

Next Up: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...perfect gifts for your signs.

The Stars Incline, they do not DEFINE

So this blog has been running now for almost 3 months. Wow. 3 months! We have covered a variety of topics in such a short time:

"The One"-- where to find them, how to meet them, the importance of astrological compatibility, and, most importantly, how to date them and hold onto them once you know what their screwed sign (or cusp) is.

Birth Charts-- know it, do it, live it and love it. It's an entire map of your OWN personal life and the power of your stars and planets. It doesn't get much more "wow" than that. I mean, the UNIVERSE has a MAP all about YOU.

Retro Trips-- fear and loathing in a period of despair and misery. OK, not THAT bad, but still not fun (much like going to the doctor or dentist...you gotta do it for a "tune up" but that doesn't mean you ENJOY being weighed, lectured and monitored, right?).

Now, the retro trips you can take or leave...the fact is, they DO exist and astronomers (not astrologers) do follow these planetary actions as part of their careers in understanding the solar system and how it functions. Whether you want to believe that a planets' retro actions affect YOUR own personal life is a completely different matter.

So is whether or not you believe in astrology yet. There may be some of you (I hope only some, or else I am worried I am not being a strong influence on you yet...) that are thinking "Cool blog, but I still don't believe in astrology because I don't feel I am a typical [insert sign] and Mercury is apparently in retrograde and my computer AND phone still work perfectly fine, and I always date men/women who are NOT astrologically compatible to me and we are so happy together, and that b*tch I work with has my EXACT birthday (down to the same year!) and we are NOTHING alike. So there. Bah humbug." I am preparing for Christmas already, apparently.

Guess what? You have every right to maintain the above skepticism (as long as you still think this is a "cool blog"). But there is a very important lesson in this all. Just because you have a certain sign, or a certain birth chart, does NOT mean that this is how you should define your life or character.

It also doesn't mean that astrology is all a load of bunk. Just because your horoscope doesn't come true everyday, or you aren't a typical model of your sign (however, have you actually listened to me and done your birth chart to find out what you are REALLY made of?), or you don't feel you share common characteristics with other fellow sign mates (even those born on YOUR birthday), doesn't mean it isn't all true.

THE NUMBER ONE RULE OF ASTROLOGY IS: The stars INCLINE, they do not DEFINE.

What your sign and your chart are telling you is that you are naturally inclined or predisposed to behave, act or think in a certain manner. Whether you actually embrace this "natural plan" of the Universe is up to you. Fate and destiny can only take you so far, but free will leads the way. It's all very similar to a road trip analogy: fate and destiny are the fuel in your car (your car being your body) that keeps you moving, but your free will (aka your soul) is the driver. You may already know the way to get to your destination, or ask others for help along the way, or see the better route, or go and buy a map, but it is up to you on how you wish to take this trip. Your free will ultimately decides whether to turn left or right at the fork in the road, or heck, decide to VEER OFF the road altogether. You can hang in there to your proper exit, take the shortcut, or enjoy the scenic route.

OK, I am spent on the obvious cliches.

There are so many options out there. The decisions you make, and the people you surround yourself with, will ultimately shape you just as much as your astrological sign and birth chart. Ever heard of a famous little debate called "Nature vs. Nurture?" That's what this all is! You may lean more towards Nature, more towards Nurture, or strike a fine balance between the two...but just remember: choosing NOT to identify with one aspect of your being is akin to still admitting it exists. You can know you are a flighty Gemini and actively CHOOSE not to be flighty...but that decision in and of itself proves that you feel that natural tendency to be a certain way (aka, the way the stars like to guide you) and CHOOSE not to act accordingly.

On a final note, just remember this: the Universe is much smarter and omniscient than our minds will ever be. If It wanted to create a world where everyone was the same, and every Scorpio acted in only ONE manner, and every Taurus in another, it would be a pretty boring world.

So we all play our role in making this world unique. You will take on specific facets of your sign; you may rebel against your natural inclination towards certain traits of your sign just as equally as you may embrace the other aspects. You can choose to take in more of the "bad qualities" versus the good qualities. It is all up to you. Take a look, for example, at my "Best and Worst Lists" every month under the Astrological Spotlight section. You can choose to focus on the best aspects of being a Scorpio (passion, charisma, intellectual thirst) and still be a true Scorpio...just as your goth and mean Scorpio co-worker who decided to embrace more of the bad qualities (depression, obsession and jealousies). And ironically, you may feel a strong natural inclination to act out on those bad qualities...but ultimately, you decided not to define yourself that way. That doesn't make you a better Scorpio or less of a Scorpio...it only makes you a certain, unique version of one.

Good for you.

Choose your own blend of what makes you the best Scorpio, Gemini, Leo or Virgo you know and live it out. Define yourself the way you wish to be defined, whether that means following that natural astrological inclination...or not.

The Apple that doesn't fall far from the tree...

Ever notice we tend to fall for our own fathers? mothers? whoever-it-was-that-raised-us? Sure, Freud has a lot to say about this subject, as does modern psychology in general...but astrology has its' own 2 cents to throw in as well.

Freud called it the Electra or Oedipus complex when we fall for the parent of the opposite sex. He hypothesized that we are chemically/psychologically triggered to be attracted by our opposite sex parent because we have competition with our same sex parent for their affection (needless to say, Freud was kinda screwy when it came to ideas of love and sex...and he was a Taurus-- go figure!)

OK, so that's a whole lot of psycho babble to get into for such an innocent blog...but my point is that psychologists have a whole practice/science based on this theory. And they shouldn't be the only ones to play the game!

Take a moment and think very, very hard on the following questions:

What is your father's sign?
What is your mother's sign?

Now, of course, if you weren't raised by your parents, please refer to the sign of your number one caretaker for this exercise.

OK, got their birthday(s) down? It shouldn't be that hard to think about. If it was too challenging of an exercise, well...are you serious?! I am fairly sure that if you parents forgot YOUR birthday, you would be pissed too. Plus, as you will soon find out, this is important information for you to know, kinda like your blood type or whether you are an organ donor. Serious stuff here, kids.

Now, keeping your parents' signs in mind, think about all the signs that you are surrounded with in your life in terms of friends, bosses, co-workers, and most importantly, your partner. Think of whether you tend to HATE or LOVE particular signs.

Hmm...starting to notice a pattern? Are you starting to see that all your friends are either Leo's or Capricorn's? Can you see that your enemies all tend to be Pisces and Aries? That your bosses and co-workers tend to be predominantly Gemini's or Scorpio's? That your natural inclination is to loathe Aquarians but love Taureans? That your lovers/partners/spouses tend to all be Virgo's or Sagittarian's?

And, more importantly, do you notice that these signs tend to be comparable (if not the same) as your parents? Do you find yourself comfortable with certain signs, especially in certain areas of our lives (work, friends, lovers)? Say you joke that you always fall for a Virgo, well...think about it: is your Mom a Virgo? your Dad? Do the Virgo's you always fall for remind you of your astrologically-same parent? Likewise, do you find yourself hating or distrusting people who have the same signs? Are those signs similar (if not the same) as your parent(s) that you have a "difficult" relationship(s) with?

This isn't a coincidence, folks. This is an astrological clusterf**k, or for a PG-rated version, this is what we call "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

Now, since this blog is predominantly about LOVE, I am going to focus on the strange coincidence that we tend to fall for our parents in most (if not all) of our relationships. But if you are more focused on your career or friends, then simply change any mention of love below to career, co-workers, friends, enemies, etc. You get the jist.

So, for example: you are a Libra woman. You always fall for Scorpio men. Ironically, your Mom is a Scorpio and your Dad is an Libra. You happen to be extremely close to your mother.

Now, this is clearly a "no-brainer" exercise because it is SO obvious. You are looking/always falling for your MOTHER (ha, you thought I was going to use the obvious father scenario, eh? Just attempting to keep you on your toes!). In the above scenario, note that you are extremely close to your mother. So, in looking for your perfect "Prince Charming" you are looking for a man who has the same qualities as your Mom...they both approach and demonstrate love in very similar ways/patterns. To you, this is what love is and how it manifests itself because it is all you have ever known. Since they both are the same sign, you have basically had a lifetime experience of knowing what it is like to experience the love of a Scorpio and are comfortable with all their nuances, eccentricities, etc. So, consciously or not, you seek in your love life what is already familiar to you…you seek what you have always grown up with and known.

Likewise, the relationship eccentricities between your Scorpio Mom and Libra Dad are COMFORTABLE to you and you understand them. In trying to find a comparable/same sign as your Mom, you are also recreating the relationship she had with your Dad (for this specific scenario at least). Of course, it could be even simpler if your Dad is the Scorpio and your Mom is the Libra, hence, you always fall for your father. But “All roads lead to Rome”, as they say, so the same theory applies even if we are talking about the opposite sex parent. Either way, you fall for the familiar. Consciously or not, we refer to our parents' relationship as a model of how relationships are, should be, or how you would like them to be.

I am not knocking you over with a feather when I say that this doesn't always happen so cut and dry. So, look a little broader. You are an Earth sign (Capricorn, Taurus or Virgo) and you always fall for a Fire sign (Aries, Leo or Sagittarius) and your favorite parent is a Fire sign too. OR, look at it from the flip side of the same coin: you tend to always fall for the sign/element of the parent you have the most difficulties with in an effort to become close to someone who reminds you of them. So, in this scenario, you are a Taurus woman and your Pisces father left you and your Mom when you were young. Despite all the issues you have with your father, you find yourself always falling for a Pisces man. Could this be your way of finding the love you lost? Of trying to have a similar personality loving you? Am I sounding too much like an after-school special or an Oprah episode? Sorry, but the reality is that whether you believe in astrology or not, there is SOME part of you that thinks "Oh, my Mom/Dad is that sign too!" It is human nature to want to connect things and make smaller pieces a part of a bigger whole.

It's a real kick in the head, eh?

The point is...we fall for what we know. And who do we know better than our parents? Even if they can be annoying, over-bearing, loud, embarrassing, etc, you still love them for it. So, go out there and find someone who reminds you of them and happens to share their sign/element. At the very least, you can find comfort in the fact that when/if you ever introduce your new boyfriend/girlfriend to your mother or father, they are sure to already like them and relate well to their psycho personality! Takes one to know one…

When going retro doesn't feel so cool...

Oh God. It's back. Again. Literally. Mercury is going in retrograde this week.

Watch out.

If I am sounding ominous, it's because I mean to be. On October 11th (late p.m.) that little f***er Mercury is gonna start running itself backwards for an ENTIRE 3 WEEKS. And if you think you have until then to prepare yourself, you DON'T. He's already starting to slowly gear himself up for the backwards marathon, stretching his legs, drinking water, and getting all prepped for the run (in astrology, this is called "Mercury's Shadow"). I keep waiting for this planet to stop doing this to himself. And to ME. And he doesn't. And you know what? He likes to do it too often. Three times a year to be precise. It's as if Mercury ENJOYS running backwards. I mean, even a hamster runs FORWARD on its' wheel despite knowing it isn't going anywhere.

Now, if you know me well, you know this is about the time I declare myself a hermit for the next several weeks, pull the blanket over my head and just decide to wait out the whole mess until this f***er decides to start moving forward again. As a Gemini, I am ruled and influenced by Mercury and his whacky actions. So when this planet goes backwards it wrecks havoc on my life and of those around me. In other words, If HE goes backwards, so do WE. And for all you Virgo's laughing and snickering out there...guess what? You are ruled by Mercury too. So, join my pity bash, um, I mean, "party."

And even if you AREN'T a Gemini or a Virgo, you are STILL affected by this retrograde period. No one is left unscathed. No. One.

Mercury is gonna keep up with this sinister plan of his until November 1st, but it won't be until November 17th that the effects (or skid-marks) of his retro trip will wear off. God. A month of misery. Some experience the torture the entire time Mercury is running his race; others will only experience discomfort during the transition in AND out of this phase (in other words, you are there to send him off and you are there to welcome him back). Either way, you will end up paying the piper.

For the first half of his retro trippin', Mercury is going to run with his pal, Scorpio. And take note: when Mercury grabs a buddy sign to go on this tri-annual run of his, that sign is NOT happy. So, instead of the sign bringing along its' POSITIVE side to cheer up Mercury, it gets MAD and yells at Mercury for tricking him/her into this ridiculous adventure.

So, Mercury retrograde in Scorpio means a period of intense introspection where we will reconsider all of our views, opinions and decisions. Mercury will be susceptible to the following negative attributes of his dear friend Scorpio: mental and emotional confusion, skepticism, dark thoughts, sarcasm and conspiracy theories. Damn that Goth Scorpio. Hope it brings along its' intense sex drive for the run...now that could make the trip all the more worthwhile!

When Mercury gets tired of Scorpio's Darth Vader crap, it's going to ditch Scorpio and pick up Libra for a new perspective on October 24th. You would think that Libra, being so harmonious and balanced, would be a good backwards running partner for Mercury, huh? Nope. What have I told you about that neurotic Libra? When it doesn't feel balanced, it goes INSANE. At least Scorpio likes to feel twisted and f%^* up. So when October 24th hits, watch out for trouble with lawsuits, unfaithful partners, lack of nutrition and health (drink LOTS of water and exercise), and problems with arrangements.

Double check EVERYTHING. Don't leave ANYTHING up to chance. Make no assumptions. Trust no one.

When Mercury takes its' retro trip, no matter which sign he takes along for fun, he likes to make sure the following areas of your life get screwed up:

Communications: be clear about what you say and how you say it, misunderstandings or wrong assumptions are ripe for the picking; also you will experience problems with phones, e-mails or internet connections
Electronics: do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, purchase any electronics during this period or they will break down on you or you will have to spend a lot of money on repairs; appliances you already own may break down on you as well
Travel: try not to BOOK any travel during this time as you will most likely end up with many delays or cancellations when you actually take your trip due to poor planning and oversights; it is also highly adviseable to avoid TAKING trips as delays are inevitable (or, worse yet, lost luggage or wrong arrival and departure times)
Major purchases: hold off on making a big purchase, specifically in real estate, electronics or long term commitments...you could end up suffering the wrath of a bad financial decision for a LONG time to come
Transportation: different from Travel--watch out for mechanical issues, breakdowns and problems with anything from your plane to the train, bus, car, or heaven forbid you own one...your bike; accidents are more likely to happen, so don't speed!

Basically, Mercury makes it very easy for misunderstandings to occur from a lack of coordination and communication due to over-looked issues, flaws or lack of careful planning. Since Mercury is the master communicator, it gets all confused when it runs backwards (kinda like not being able to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time).

In an attempt to put in a slightly positive spin, I should insert that Mercury in retrograde isn't ENTIRELY bad. If you have been working hard on a project, mission or goal, it can come into fruition during a Mercury retro trip. If you were making major decisions BEFORE Mercury went retro, they may go into action or become finalized DURING retro with very few problems since everything was established beforehand. Some lucky people out there will actually experience a lot of prosperity under a Mercury retro trip, especially if Mercury is retro in their birth chart (they like the backwards run, they were born that way). It also gives us time to really think and evaluate our life, our decisions and what's important to us. And sometimes, that's a necessary thing which can help us be happier later on. So, it's not entirely mean of Mercury to tackle this adventure.

Many planets do this, you know. They have periods of moving in retrograde, some lasting longer than others. I should clarify here that they don't actually MOVE backwards, it just appears that they do (it's like a haunted mirror "funhouse" that the Solar System likes to pull...things aren't what they appear). And in case you still don't think that retrograde seems like a "bad thing" (um, have you carefully read this post?), just realize this: when ANY planet goes in retrograde, what is basically happening is the equivalent of The Wheel of Fortune in a Tarot Deck. Fated events happen beyond your control and a series of occurences will rapidly begin to happen which can basically spit you out at any point or turn your life upside down...fun, huh?

And the best part of all of this is that sometimes planets like to do this TOGETHER. That's right. It's like the bathroom buddy system of the Solar System...they don't like to go alone. Or they tag-team one another like the passing of the Olympic Torch; when one moves forward it passes the torch to the next planet to start moving backwards. For example, Mars is going into retrograde starting November 15, 2007 until January 30, 2008!! That's a mighty long time. And to make it WORSE, the effects of Mars in retrograde will continue until April 4, 2008, when he begins actually going direct. Thankfully, Mars only goes retro once every 26 months, so it isn't a common occurence, unlike Mercury which goes retro 3 times PER YEAR. With Mercury phasing out of its' retro trip in early-mid November, and Mars gearing up early November for its' mid-November run...it's not going to be pretty. Mars is going retro in CANCER. Emotional, sensitive, pensive and moody CANCER for basically 5 MONTHS. Not to mention that it is historically known and proven that when Mars goes retrograde...wars always happen. Uh-oh. This is not a good foreboding...

But I am too depressed to go into that now. Let's save that topic for mid-November, that is, if my computer hasn't crashed beforehand.

Sometimes you feel like a nut...sometimes you don't.

So in our last super scientific poll on this blog "Do you think your sign accurately reflects your personality?" a whopping majority of you answered "All the time!"

That's incredible!

While many of us are "lucky" enough to fall under such a definitive category (well, define "lucky"...sucks if you have a crappy sign and are true to those violent mood swings and lack social skills), many of us still don't relate entirely to our sun sign. Of course, if you are a cusp sign, it gets even trickier (for those who are a bit behind, read the blog posted below on cusps).

So, on par with my favorite candy bar "tag line" commercial (see title of blog if you are feeling a bit "slow" today), sometimes you feel like a [insert sign]...sometimes you don't. It's amazing how you can read all about your sign and sometimes it's so YOU, and other times you just feel your parents lied about when you were born because you couldn't possibly be that sign. Sometimes, it just doesn't sound like you, does it? Ever questioned why? I mean, it's frustrating, isn't it?

Some of you are nodding your heads as you read this (though according to my super scientific poll from last week, it's not many of you seeing as your sign accurately reflects your personality "All of the time!"). For those of you who answered "Rarely" or "Sometimes" or "Never" you probably fall under one of the two following categories: half of you will question the situation and think "Why am I not a typical Libra?" and go about researching or finding out more about your own sign; the other half will say "Screw astrology, it's all BS anyways." SHAME on you if you fall in the latter category! After all, astrology IS the oldest science that exists...and just like traditions, there is a reason it has lasted so long.

So for those who ARE smart enough to dig a little deeper, you probably already know what I am going to tell you: you have not ONE, but TEN (that's a 1-0) SIGNS in your astrological chart. So just because your sun sign is in Libra (they get the nod since it's their birthday month, so calm down all you Leo's out there) doesn't mean you are a TRUE Libra. You have 9 other major planets, not even including your rising sign, to answer to. Also, just to further confuse things, all these major planets could be in completely different (and non-compatible) signs, all making for an eclectic astrological chart that delves far deeper into your personality than what the astrology section of a magazine says. So when you say "I don't feel like a true Libra", you are probably right! I'll bet your Capricorn Moon and Cancer Mars on it!

OK, many of you may be thinking "Wait, what? We have 9 other signs?" and "What's this about Capricorn Moon and Cancer Mars?" and "What's a RISING sign?" I am not the most scientifically-oriented person out there (sorry), but here is a quick astrological/science lesson (call it Science for Dummies): there are 10 planets, including the Sun, in our solar system (for astrological purposes, Pluto is still a planet). When you were born, each planet resided in a particular sign (this is a very mathematical and scientific chart that astronomers use). The sign each planet was in at the exact time of your birth influences different aspects of your life, personality, future, desires, goals, fears, etc. So, while you were born under the Libra Sun (dates ranging from September 23-October 22), your 9 other planets (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto) were residing in other signs.

Each planet defines a particular aspect of your personality/psyche. The sign that "empowers" that planet will heavily influence that aspect of your personality. Here is a brief synopsis:

Major Planets-
Moon: Your inner-emotional self (what you don't show to the world)
Mercury: How you communicate
Venus: How you love
Mars: How you fight/resolve issues and face problems

Other Planets-
Saturn: Your karma planet (past karmic issues you have to deal with in this current life)
Jupiter: Your personal drive for growth, intelligence and improvement; our sense of optimism and an indicator of our own personal "good luck"
Uranus: How you react to change and express yourself; personal and social freedom; originality of thought and expression
Pluto: Transformation and regeneration; rules destruction, death and "secrecy"; spiritual matters

Once you know which sign each planet is in, you can better understand your personality and how each sign rules that area of your life.

Let's take a real-life example. Say you are a flighty, witty, commitment-adverse Gemini. You like to have fun in relationships and keep things light and volatile. You loathe routines and hate feeling "tied down." Well, at least that's what your horoscope says! But YOU? YOU are a deeply emotional Gemini who thrives on love, commitment, needs to always be in a relationship and likes to have a deep soul connection with your partner. You tend to be dependent on your partner and need a lot of verbal affirmation and coddling from them because you can be VERY sensitive to criticism. That doesn't sound like a typical Gemini, does it? Well, I will be willing to bet your Venus (the planet of love) is in a more emotional sign such as Cancer, Pisces or even Scorpio. So while you act like a Gemini, you LOVE like another sign...make sense? Kinda? Sorta?

And then there is your Rising Sign. This sign is the influence of another sign directly on your Sun Sign. If your Rising Sign is the same as your Sun Sign...woah, talk about feeling that your horoscope is accurate "All of the time!" But most people don't have the same Sun and Rising Sign, so definitely find out what your Rising is. Many professional astrological sites suggest that when you read your horoscope for your Sun Sign, you should also read the horoscope for your Rising Sign as well. That is how powerful your Rising is. More to follow on this subject on another post...

By now you should be slowly getting a general gist of how intricate your astrological chart and personality are other than a simple "I am a Libra, nuff said." Because, really, there is SO SO SO much more to be said.

I am hoping that right now you are SO intrigued by all of this that you are already scrolling over to the left hand side of my blog and clicking on the links under the FREE birth chart section (there's that shameless promo for "FREE" again). It's not scary, it doesn't take more than 5 seconds to figure out, and it's a lot of fun...certainly more entertaining than working on your actual JOB, right?

Once you type in your birth information (birthday, EXACT time of birth, location of birth) , you will get a copy of your astrological wheel as well as a long list of all your major planets along with your nodes, rising sign, and houses in each planet/sign. It's pretty lengthy, but it's all about YOU, so you should enjoy it! If you have any specific questions, please contact me...

CUSP it and grasp it...what to do when you don't know which sign you are.

Born between January 19th-23rd? November 19th-22nd? May 19th-23rd? February 18th-23rd? Well, you're screwed. Yep, it's true, you are. Who the heck knows your sign, let alone YOU?! Reading horoscopes and talking about astrology is just NO fun at all because you don't even have your own sign dammit. It's like being born on a leap year! How UNfair is that?

As with all things in life, some of us have it easier than others. Some have the right job, the right salary, the right partner/lover/family, and the cool sign. AND, when someone asks "Hey, what's your sign?" they can easily respond "Oh, I am a Pisces" or "I am a Taurus" or exclaim, "Oh my God, I am SUCH a Libra, it's scary! Everytime I read about my sign or my daily horoscope, it is just SO ACCURATE."

Well, lucky, lucky them.

Many people (aka, you screwed cusp person) don't have it so easy. You just don't KNOW which sign you are. It's too close to call. Your birthday is October 22nd. Some horoscopes say you are a Libra. Others say you are a Scorpio. Well, which is it? For those of you reading this post and are scratching their heads thinking "What IS a cusp?" or "Am I a cusp?" let's take a look at this super long cusp list below:

Born between the 19th-23rd of any month, January thru December

Easy list, huh? If your birthday falls under any one of those above dates, you, my dear, are a screwed cusp.

So what exactly does it mean to be a cusp sign? It means that you are literally in-between two signs and incorporate energies and characteristics from BOTH neighboring signs. Confusing? Ok, let's do a simple exercise with an easy example:

Example/Question: You are born on February 19th. Some books say you are a Pisces. Some say you are an Aquarian. So which is it?

Answer: Pisces. No, wait, Aquarian! Truth is, you are so split down the middle, you never know what to say when people ask. So, with time, you finally say "I am born February 19th. That makes me a Pisces in some books/sites/articles, and in others it makes me an Aquarian, but you know, I identify more with Pisces...sometimes I have my crazy and whacky Aquarian moments, but I tend to relate more to the emotional and spiritual Pisces sign, so I read Pisces horoscopes only." And that's OK! That's a GOOD thing. As you get older, you naturally become more inclined, or identify MORE, with one sign over the other.

More importantly, you should feel SPECIAL being a cusp (yes, special! NOT screwed!), because it is a cool thing to be a cusp person. It may be a pain in the butt because you never feel truly confident of which sign you are (or each horoscope you read fluctuates pending on when they determine the cut-off date for each sign), but hey, free will is a great thing. YOU can decide which sign you like/relate to more.

Also (and this is super cool), it makes you more compatible with other people! Since you are ruled by two different elements that are totally different since no two neighboring signs are ruled by the same (or compatible) elements, you can actually "match" with ANY OTHER ASTROLOGICAL SIGN you want. How fantastic is that?! If you are born November 22nd, you are a Scorpittarius (Scorpio AND Sagittarius) which are Water and Fire elements, respectively. And because you inhibit energies of two opposing elements, you can easily match with Earth signs (thanks to your Water Scorpio element) or Air signs (thanks to your Fire Sagittarius element) in addition to your other Water and Fire elements.

Now if you are TOTALLY confused and really don't know which sign you are and can't decide, please take me up on my suggestion to do your FREE birth chart (see how I am highlighting the fact that it is FREE?). To get a FREE birth chart done, please go to the left hand side tool bar on this website and click on any of the links under "Free Birth Charts." If you know the exact time of your birth, this chart will definitively tell you what sign you are based on your year and time of birth. This negates all printed horoscopes, calendars, cut-offs since your chart is scientifically and mathematically calculated to exact degrees.

So I hope you cusps out there are beginning to realize how cool and special you are. Not only do you go with every other sign out there, but every other sign out there likes YOU too! You appeal to every other sign's sense of compatibility AND mystery since you exhibit traits that they are both naturally astrologically inclined to and repelled by AT THE SAME TIME. You are just so fascinating. Everyone should really want to be you!

And if you are STILL not convinced, here is one last cool thing for you cusps out there to know: you also go fabulously well with OTHER cusps. It's like having 4 personalities/people in one relationship! And that is NEVER boring. Disclaimer: if you are born on the Taurus/Gemini cusp, you actually will have 5 personalities in total in a relationship. Why? Since a Gemini is already in and of itself 2 personalities, their being a Tauremini (Taurus + Gemini) actually gives them 3 personalities in total. So if you are a Tauremini dating ANOTHER cusp, you get 5 personalities in total (your 3 + their 2). Disclaimer #2: If you are a Tauremini dating ANOTHER Tauremini, you now have 6 personalities in your relationship (your 3 + their 3). Good grief! Half a dozen people in ONE relationship. It's like being an astrological mormon! (joking).

Now that you got 'em, how do you keep 'em? A "How To Date Guide" for the signs

Ok, Ok, so you know you like those sexy Leo's (notice I started with Leo first since that is the way they roll), those philosophical Virgo's, those fun (some say fickle) Gemini's or those whimsical Pisces. But, how do you DATE them? Sure, you know now where to meet them (see "Does their element determine...their elements?") but what happens AFTER you have met them?

How DO you exactly hold the attention of the flirtatious Libra? Are you too rude and harsh for your sensitive Cancer partner? Why can't you make those Sagittarians commit to you, dammit?

Now, if I had all the answers to the above questions, I am fairly sure I would rule the world. Seriously. Because then everyone would stay with their first love, or their first crush, and no one would ever break up because the relationship would be perfect. See? I would rule the world. Think about it...Love is the number one question or thought on everyone's mind. Whether or not you are a workaholic or have serious commitment issues, love and sex (or any strange derivative of it, thanks, Freud), is most apt to be your number one concern.

Sometimes it is just SO easy. Not to make you anymore nauseous than you probably already are by these people, but I am sure you can all count the number of times you have heard from married or happily partnered couples the phrase "When we met, everything was just SO EASY and things happened quickly." Normally they are telling you this because you are quite depressed at the moment that your Sagittarian just called from Bali and said they found a last minute deal on Travelocity and decided to go, ALONE, and will check in with you in 2 weeks time. HUH? Or your Cancer just called, crying, that you don't pay enough attention to them and that their trauma issues from their childhood are rising up again and they just need to feel understood. WHAT?

So your happily married/partnered friends (as Bridget Jones would say "the smug marrieds") decide to make you feel better by saying "Cheer up! Yes, your love life sucks, but the good news is that this person isn't your soulmate. I should know, because I found MY soulmate. Can I tell you how happy I am now that I don't have to be in your 'singles' world anymore, figuring this stuff out? Wow. It's such a relief! Sure, you may get there one day too...if you weren't such a sucker for that loser you are currently dating."

Friends are such blessings!

Anyways, back to the point (there is one, you know). So, you have a favorite sign to date/crush/sleep with/marry(?)...and they seem to be so IT for you. But, for some funny reason, you aren't sure you are IT for them because it is taking a little more work than normal OR you just don't know how to date them at all.

Here's a little guideline...or rather, a "How To Date Guide" for you to chew on. Call it a guide, a strategy, a plan of attack or my version of "the Rules" and see if it works out!

How to date a...

Capricorn: You have to shower your Cap with a lot of love and affection. They love being taken care of because they have had a long and hard work day, felt misunderstood, got yelled at by their boss (and if they are the boss, they feel as if they had to deal with telling off an employee for not doing their job right), or just are in need of a vacation. They are just TOO hard on themselves and need someone to make them laugh and feel coddled. Since vacation is a hard pill to swallow for this hard-working sign, try to give them a "vacation" once a week by preparing them a fantastic meal (they love their food), giving them some alone time and drawing them a luxurious bubble bath, or buy them that latest book they have been wanting to read (who cares if it is "The World is Flat" or something else that doesn't seem "light reading", they love it!). Listen to their on-going woes and be sensitive and understanding and give them some advice. Make THEM the "star" of the evening so they feel important. Take care of them, and they will take care of you. Caps are natural born snobs and like the finer/sophisticated things in life. So, if you aren't into the cooking or bathing thing, take them to a top notch restaurant or hotel and make them feel pampered.

Aquarius: Your Aquarian is quirky and weird and you have to let them know that their neuroses is the thing you love most about them. This sign can be very spontaneous, erratic, emotionally needy and unbalanced (all in the most positive way of course!) and needs a stable partner who understands their crazy whims and lets them be who they are without judging them. They need unconditional support and a partner who will let them rant and rave about their desire to have a completely different job (each day, it's a new job), travel to Timbuktu, or about the latest social injustice they just heard about on TV. When an Aquarian is incensed about something, whoa. Let them vent it out and tell them you are there for them and maybe plan a fun and spontaneous weekend trip to a place they have always wanted to go. If your Aquarian is playing hard to catch and isn't available, I have to say: drop them. Aquarians are pretty on the ball when they want something or someone, so if it isn't you now, it's probably not gonna be you then.

Pisces: Your Pisces needs to be nurtured and surrounded with a lot of stimuli: calm environments, soft voices, fantastic scents (think parfume, candles, incense), and affectionate gestures. Seduce them. They thrive on feeling secure and at peace. You can totally turn on your Pisces by going to their favorite poetry reading, taking them to a spiritual retreat, putting on sexy lingerie (ok, if you are a guy, do something super romantic, and slightly erotic, with your Pisces girl)...anything that will OVERstimulate their sensitive senses. They should smell something sexy and warm (vanilla), touch something soft (silk), hear something peaceful (whispers or music they love), taste something delicious (ok, I don't need to get into further details). Pisces also have a tendency to be quite dogmatic and flare up with anger, so if that's your Pisces, let them rant and then put them in place. Ultimately, this sign likes to be told what to do since they can be so wishy-washy in making up their own minds. They love people who are "in control" because they then feel secure. So if you need to act like a scolding mother, or a domineering father, go for it. They dig it.

Aries: Your typical Aries needs someone fun and outgoing. Someone who isn't afraid to go out on the town, dress up, and allow them to flirt mercilessly. They love people who are energetic, on their toes, witty...and honestly, they like the slightly bitchy. Think ATTITUDE and SASSY. Don't act like a wilting flower around your Aries. Be strong, be direct, be honest...and be FUNNY. They say it how it is and would like the same in return. But don't be fooled. This sign will not be forgiving of you if you cheat on them or flirt with others. Though they may have a tendency to do that (sigh, that double standard), they hold you on a higher regard. Ultimately, don't embarrass them...they hate losing face in public. And show them how much you love them and need them in your life...you can use your imagination on how to do that.

Taurus: Taureans need to feel embraced, loved and secure with just enough sass to keep them interested. True, this sign loves the home life, security, family and stability. BUT they are easily bored with routines and predictability. Though they say they want that, they are much more intrigued by that person who keeps them on their toes, makes them feel secure but always leaves them wondering "what will they do next?" Always, always, be honest with this sign. They don't handle "behind the back" talks or secretive behavior. Take them to cool events: wine tastings, special dinners, a drive to the country (oh, they love this), and shower them with compliments too. Above all else, let them maintain their sense of independence and their need to sleep. Don't fight them on this. They have a strong and determined attitude when it comes to "me time."

Gemini: If you don't have anything intelligent, witty or thought-provoking to say, don't say it to your Gemini. This sign is all about mental compatibility and stimulation, so stupid comments will be seen as just that. Don't get me wrong, this sign loves slapstick humor and comedy too, but they won't take you seriously if that's ALL you have to offer. Let your Gemini gab on and on and on and ON about an issue, their day, their latest philosophy, or their plans. They just need to be able to keep on going. Give them their space and don't get mad at them for doing their own thing or wanting to do it alone. Gemini's need/thrive on/require a lot of freedom and the minute they feel controlled or closed in on, they get SUPER claustrophobic and run off. They need AIR. So, basically: don't smother them with constant attention. They'll get bored with you very quickly if you are constantly calling, e-mailing, texting or hanging around them. Sure, in the beginning, they may do that to YOU because it is all very exciting (remember, the Gemini is the child of the zodiac), but like all children, once the fascination has worn off, they are ready to move on to another toy.

Cancer: Your Cancer is a tricky one indeed. You have to be kind, be gentle, be understanding of their moods and bouts of depressions...but you can't be a pushover either because then they think you are a sucker and they can control you. And that's no good. Cancer's need, at heart, someone to control THEM and tell them what they need to do. They may not readily admit it, but if you make it too easy for them and don't put your foot down, they just don't respect you. Tell them they look lovely, tell them they are smart, tell them that you are cool if they need to have alone time for the next several days (but keep checking in on them so that they don't feel neglected; they like to have their own pity bash, but they don't mind if others know about it...it makes them feel important to know you care so much). But be very very careful about one thing: sarcasm. Though Cancer's are quite good at dishing it out, they can be surprisingly sensitive about taking it in. Ultimately this sign is very thin-skinned despite their attempt to look tough and brave (hard crab shell, soft interior). If they don't know you are joking, your comments can really really hurt them and make them cry. Uh-oh. OH, and one item of important interest: you gotta be friends with their mother. Cancer's are very protective of family and care a lot about what their parents think of their partner. So if their mama doesn't like you, it doesn't bode well for your future.

Leo: Now this is an easy one. Leo's need to feel adored, worshipped, and that you think they are the most fabulous person in their life. Don't flirt with others infront of your Leo (jealousy), don't walk away from them in a fight (the energy from the fight leads to great post-fighting sex), and never ever turn your back on them when they need you. Leo's often feel misunderstood. They tell you EXACTLY how they feel about everything and anything: from why they think brown M&Ms are stupid to how our policy with China is hypocritical with our UN standards. Since they have no problem putting forth their opinions, they often get slammed with negative replies from people who are shocked, mad or appalled at their boldness. This is because most people aren't like Leo's. Most people tend to hold things in, take a "wait and see" approach on making any rash decisions. Leo's don't do that. They jump right in growling and clawing and don't mince words. But they need to know you are there to support them when their friends, family, coworkers, etc, don't agree with them. Don't tell them "You were wrong" or "Whatever, I don't agree with you and this is your own deal." Even if you DON'T agree with them, say you do. Just supporting THEM and not the actual FIGHT is the most important thing. Oh, and be great in bed. Leo's love to have sex...and if you aren't a passionate/sexual person, forget about it.

Virgo: Ah, your Virgo is a tough nut to crack, truth be told. Why? Even though they seem like perfectly nice people on the outside, they are quite complicated on the inside. They over-analyze, tend to be quite critical (they just can't help it!), and have very idealistic principles when it comes to love and commitment. To put it simply, they are always seeking perfection. Of course, we all know perfect doesn't exist, so this makes the Virgo go crazy analyzing the why's and how's of your personality/behavior. Virgo's are a two-pronged situation: Disaster and Relief. Disaster Scenario: You can keep your Virgo around for quite some time by playing mind games with them. Start sweet & nice and get the Virgo to fall for you thinking that you are just the most "wonderful person" they know. Then, you can be your real, imperfect self and play control games (note: this works only for the crazies out there). It's easy to revert to that with a Virgo because this sign doesn't open up easily and it makes YOU feel that you can't control them or tap into their innermost thoughts. This makes you MAD. You feel like you never really know your Virgo. So you lash out at them by using their weapon of choice: their overactive mind. This relationship can last for many many years because the Virgo is just SO CONFUSED and feels SO GUILTY. They don't understand why you changed, or whether it is their own fault, and they are so caught up with rationalizing your crazy behavior that before they know it, they have been with you for almost 5 years. They try to convince themselves that they should stay in this relationship, even when they are miserable and know there is no life left in it. Scary stuff. Clearly, I do NOT endorse this plan of attack. Ultimately the Virgo will leave you (or you will leave them). It pretty much looks like the end of a WWF match when all is said and done. But if you truly love your Virgo and want to keep them...lay off the mind games, ok? Relief Scenario: Be honest, be pure, be GOOD. UNDERSTAND them (and their need to work 12 hours/day++), don't apply pressure to them, and don't take it personally when they are moody, silent, or need space. Give them space, but be nurturing and sincere. And as with Gemini's, say something smart and intelligent, too. Turn them on mentally. Virgo's love people like that. They put you on their pedestal because you are just such a GOOD, smart and honest person. And how can they leave someone who has finally come close to their idea of "perfection"? Oh, and it doesn't hurt to dress smartly. Virgo's love color coordination and people who are "put together."

Libra: Sweep this hopelessly romantic Libra off their feet and you have a great relationship ahead of you. Take them to the opera, to see plays, to their favorite restaurant, a carriage ride through the park...anything that appeals to their aesthetics whims, and you have them like putty in your hands. Don't be mean and don't be LAZY. Libra's don't like lazy partners. You have to have energy, have plans, have charisma...basically, you need to entertain them. Wine and dine them, bring them flowers, play them a song you wrote for them, make them feel they are the star of the movie and you are their leading man/woman. It's just all romantic. Don't be jealous when they flirt, don't wear an uncoordinated outfit (yuck!), and don't be a MEAN person. Libra's are horrified by people who aren't nice or pretty to look at. Harsh words are like nails on a chalkboard for this sign. Kid gloves for your Libra, ok?

Scorpio: If you want to be with a Scorpio, be very very sure of what you are getting into first. The reason why is because this sign does not fall easily and does not fall lightly. They are intense, emotional, and feel things quite deeply. It's hard for them to open up to others; they find solitude and comfort in their own company. So if they make the effort to open up their personal world to you, and you treat it insignificantly...watch out for the nasty sting this Scorpion can bring you. If you thrive under the passionate and intense glare of a Scorpio (and there are many many many out there who do), then return it back to them. Scorpio's like being with someone who can match them with intensity and who aren't scared by Scorpio's advances or possessive streaks. It's true- this sign is notorious for being obsessive and possessive (as are Pisces, but in a lighter way), but you have to understand that this is how they SHOW and FEEL love. It's not sinister to them to behave so "darkly." For them, it's what love is: complete surrender, passion and intensity. Leave them alone when they need downtime/brooding. And don't leave them after you made them fall for you. That's just so cruel to their heart, which has already devoted itself to you.

Sagittarius: You gotta catch this Sagittarian when you can...problem is, you also have to LET GO. You can't control this sign but you can't let them run too free or else they will just keep on going. Sagittarians are interesting; they are commitment phobic at heart and don't like being tied down. They want adventure, they enjoy playing the game, and they love to pick up and go at a moment's notice. Attachments to people, places or things are scary to a Sagittarian because it makes them think of commitment. And commitment means being "stuck." And stuck is just not in their vocabulary. You have to match this Sagittarian by being witty, flirtatious and outgoing. They want someone who doesn't seem that attainable either...it keeps them on their toes. Be up to date on current events (they love politics), and don't be stupid. They HATE stupidity. Sag's like their partners to be smart, funny...and very very witty/flirtatious. Unlike other signs (Aries, for example), this sign likes the flirt and likes to date the flirt (because then they feel special that they got the flirt to commit to them!). They also need a partner who can walk by their side and entertain the room with them. Sure, they are the master storyteller and entertainer, but that doesn't mean you are the wallflower. You gotta keep up with them! But here's the catch: though they like you to play the aloof, flirty and witty role, they have to know you only have eyes for them. This sign is often crippled with a fear of never being truly loved for who they are and can get extremely jealous. They have a lot of insecurities and often feel misunderstood. This is mostly because they say what's on their mind and have no filter, and therefore alienate or lose many people in their life. So you have to be thick-skinned and not take their insults, um, I mean, comments, personally. Give them space to have their freedom and continue on with their own adventures. They are surprisingly loyal in relationships once they are in love and can pamper and baby you like no one else (particularly the women). And just like their signmate, Leo, you better have a strong sex drive. This sign thinks about sex ALL THE TIME.

Of course, these hints and suggestions aren't full-proof, but they are a great jumping off point to get things rolling in the right direction or to make you understand how your lover's sign thinks. And if you keep finding that no matter what, you just can't get them to commit...well, move on. There is a better person (and sign!), out there for you.

Next Up: Cusp it and grasp it...what to do when you don't know which sign you are.

Does their element determine...their elements?

OK, we've covered a lot of ground this past month. I guess the influence of Virgo had me thinking way too much and made me put everything in writing! Lucky, lucky you. So by now, faithful reader, you should know where and how to meet The One, whether or not astrological compatibility is necessary, and know which signs are worth for shit and best left alone. OK, just kidding on that last part (but, kinda sorta not really).

With ALL this knowledge I have bestowed on you, what are you going to do with it? If you know what signs you like (despite my previous rant on why they suck and are so good at it), and know it isn't important that they aren't your perfect match (but it would be easier if they were), and are READY to meet The One (are you?)...where do you GO to accomplish this important mission?

The Zodiac is a confusing wheel of fortune (no pun intended) and each sign has its' own eccentricities. A lot of this has to do with their element (Fire, Air, Water, Earth). If you've noticed, I tend to clump them together by their element because even though an Aquarian, Gemini and Libra are different signs, they are all AIR signs and therefore have many many common (and neurotic) characteristics that they share because they are all influenced by the element of Air, which basically means people who can be flighty, always on the move, and hard to catch! Then you've got those FIRE signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius) that live exactly up to their name: heat, intensity, passion and strength...or they can just burn you with all their energy and righteousness. Then there are those deeply rooted, stubborn, practical and slow-to-move Earth signs, such as Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn, who, like the Earth itself, just don't like to change or move that much (unless there is an earthquake and they crack in half and then God help us all). Last but not least, there are those Water signs (Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio), which, like water, are deep, profound, often cold (unless you stick around until the water gets warmer) and can either be still and calm or violent and vengeful, but always, always, reshaping and transforming themselves to survive.

So there has to be some practical use for this knowledge. What does this all MEAN?!

OK, let's say you've pretty much figured out you always fall for a Fire sign (just an example, I'm not discriminating on the other elements...though I am sure you Leo's out there are outraged that I wouldn't start with YOUR sign first!). Those Leo's make you feel sexy, those Aries make you laugh and feel flirtatious and those Sagittarians fascinate you with their stories and adventures. But, problem is, there aren't any around right now in your love life. Gone. All of them. How do you find a new victim...err, um, I mean, lover? If you know you love those hard-to-commit Sagittarians, do you go to a bookstore or a random new local pub? If Leo's are your thing, should you look for them at the pool or in a hiking group? Does your Aries tend to wander around those nightclubs or spend time in the library?

FIRE

Leo: Leo's like a lot of attention and thrive on sensual/sexy environments. To find a Leo, go to the new "hot spot", whether it be a restaurant, bar or club...preferably one with a lot of mirrors so that they can also watch themselves at all times. Hey, it's not only fun for them to indulge their vanity, it's fun for you to watch! Leo's are naturally drawn to bold colors (red, orange, gold, black) but also are uncannily attracted to the color green. Whether or not this means you should go to a Latin Irish pub, I am unsure. I can't give you ALL the answers! The one thing I can guarantee you is that they WILL be out and about because they need to be in a social environment...Saturday nights at home are just not acceptable. And when all else fails, go to the beach or pool. Like the lions they are, they love soaking under the sun.

Aries: Aries crave excitement, music and lots of energy and crowds...especially crowds that are super glamorous, fashionable or popular. You can find your Aries in the middle of a dance floor or, more likely, sitting in a VIP booth of a club watching (and criticizing) other people's fashion choices and drinking from an expensive bottle of champagne or ordering more bottle service. They WILL be surrounded by their close friends (or those who look good enough to be associated with them). Another great Aries stomping ground is the trunk show of a new designer. They love to see new designs and mingle with creative minds (or those who can afford the price tag).

Sagittarius: Sagittarians love to travel and seek out new experiences...but they also love their booze. You can find this sign either in an airport waiting to hop a plane or in their favorite bar in their local neighborhood. Though Sag's are willing to try new places, they are more likely to stick to their tried-and-true favorite bar (nothing pretentious or glamorous) where everyone knows their name (and seriously, everyone knows their name...they are in the same bar 6 out of 7 nights a week). The best solution is to find your Sag drinking a beer at the airport bar while waiting for their flight! Another easy way to spot a Sag? They may be getting into a bar fight from drinking too much and being annoyed by the jerk who stole their favorite bar stool. Watch out. If by chance you find the RANDOM lone Sag who doesn't like to drink (um, I would consult their parents to make sure they are a Sag then), you can also find this sign at some historical place of interest...or even something different, like a murder mystery theater event. They LOVE intrigue and playing detective.

AIR

Aquarius: Aquarians love to be different and try new spots...so you can find this sign at the opening of a new club, art show, theater production, or book signing. The key word is: GRAND OPENING (even a shoe sale). Also, since they are avid humanitarians, you can find this sign volunteering for their local congressman, passing out fliers, attending rallies, or fighting for a social cause. You can easily spot them out because they are probably wearing crazy jewelry. I know. It's random, but totally true. And look out for turquoise in particular. They LOVE that color (yes, even the men). They like their cocktails as well, but don't try a dive bar...search a modern, sleek lounge, with plenty of space so they don't feel claustrophobic (and so that they have an easy exit).

Gemini: Gemini's are tricky because one twin can be found surrounded by a group of friends at their favorite restaurant/bar (don't be surprised if they OWN the bar) just chatting and drinking away the night while the other twin can be found at home, pretty much doing the exact same thing (so while it APPEARS they are doing two different things, the only thing that is varied is the location). They really can be anywhere because, honestly, they have pretty much gone everywhere. You can spot them because they are gabbing away the entire night, using their hands as they speak, and laughing a lot. Just think of a young child who has been told they can stay up past their curfew. They are just giddy with all the options a night can hold. Another great Gemini spot? The theater or infront of a camera. Most Gemini's end up in careers involving media and mass communications. Whether they are a top reporter or journalist, PR spokesperson, or a famous actor, they love taking the stage (or camera) and role-playing someone else (or another image of themselves). It's no coincidence that some of the most famous people in Hollywood, and politics, are Gemini's.

Libra: Librans love to dance! Go find them at a great dance club drinking a little too much and shaking their money-makers ;) If they aren't out dancing, it is because they are enjoying a romantic evening with their partner, in which case, you don't want to find them, do you? Now, if you STILL persist on winning over the heart of a Libra (because as I have mentioned before, just because they are "taken" doesn't mean they are innocent or closed off to flirting), you can find them taking in an opera or play...something beautiful, breath-taking and emotional that makes them want to cry because the orchestra was so in-tune or the costumes were so decadent.

WATER

Pisces: Pisceans are hard. Why? Because they don't really enjoy going out. They would prefer to stay in and watch a movie, or go to a jazz club, or a poetry reading. They don't like to be over-stimulated or in large crowds or feel claustrophobic surrounded by people they don't know. This sign can be found at a book reading, a quiet bar, or even as part of a band where they are the lead singer, guitarist or drummer (or heck, they can be the DJ!). They love providing the music...they just don't like the mosh pit (so yeah, don't go searching for your Pisces at a packed concert in the front row).

Cancer: Ever heard "Work hard, party hard"? Well, that's your Cancer. After holing themselves up all week and going to bed at a decent hour from working a lot (or partying a lot), this sign likes pulling out all the stops when they go out. They can be loud and found screaming and hollering in a bar, drinking (a LOT), dancing with that new stranger, heck, even making out with them. It's all fun and games...until the next morning when they regret that they looked like a jackass (but they won't tell you that...it would look weak). So what happens next is that the following weekend they don't go out in an effort to make up for their "sins." Most likely, they will take a weekend trip to the beach so they can bum around and dig themselves into the sand (they aren't the Crab for nothing!). But you can be sure they'll be at it again soon. They can be surprisingly fun and silly when they crawl out of that shell of theirs. So go ahead. Find yourself a Cancer for some fun...go to a typical bar (nothing flashy, although they are likely to be wearing a revealing outfit) or go to a social event (they like the attention and the ability to climb the social or work ladder).

Scorpio: Scorpio's are fun to seek out. Look for the person who looks dark, mysterious, maybe wearing all black (red is fun too for this sign, it reminds them of power) and watch how they eye everyone carefully with aloof detachment. They are absorbing the environment and watching everyone in it. You can find your Scorpio at a coffee shop, possibly typing their next book on their labtop or reading the latest historical non-fiction book they picked up. They also are intrigued with life/death cycles...so you could try seeking them out at a haunted ghost walk or a metaphysical workshop. Don't be surprised if you also find your dear Scorpio teaching a yoga class and instructing others on how to meditate. If all else fails, go to a sex shop or some underground orgy like Tom Cruise in "Eyes Wide Shut." Scorpio's dig that stuff. And if you NEVER EVER meet a Scorpio, it's because they are having a breakdown in their dark bedroom and don't feel like dealing with the world or meeting you.

EARTH

Capricorn: When the Capricorn is done with their long work week, they may not really be up for weekend fun. Sure, they'll meet you for a drink, a Happy Hour, or a dinner, but they prefer to stay in and watch news, sports, or open a new bottle of wine. If it is a work event, they'll be there (it could nab them their next promotion). This sign, however, is very athletic and into sports (probably because it is all about competition, and they love it). You can find them at a sports game or bar, training for a marathon, working out at the gym or signing up for the newest fitness class. They may equally be likely to be found taking a weekend trip to the mountains to do some hiking or white water rafting. So pitch a tent and get some smores out and seek out this nature-seeker. Note the smores, by the way. This sign likes to over-indulge in food and would be equally happy laying around their living room, while watching TV, and eating a lot.

Taurus: Taureans love their drinks and love to socialize. Throw in some great food, sexy music, and possibly even their family members (yeah, they like familiar surroundings), and this sign is happy. They LOVE wine tasting events, so sign up for the next one in your area. They can also be amazingly resilient and crazy party-goer's too...who knew?! But bear in mind that a lot of this comes from their uncanny ability to hibernate like a bear; so after sleeping for more than 10 hours a night, they SHOULD have all that energy to party! Virgo is pretty good at this too. So if you don't find your Taurus at a bar until closing, maybe still dancing to music that is no longer playing, you can find them in bed...sleeping. I realize this doesn't help your cause if you are trying to find them, so maybe you should get a heard start and camp out at a Mattress Discounters or bedroom section of Linens and Things?

Virgo: If you actually find a Virgo that is enjoying a night out rather than working a 12-hour work day, you will find your Virgo in the corner of a bar, watching everyone, as they slowly sip their drink and analyze you, the room, the drinks, and the color of the walls. They may have one or two friends around, whom they trust and like, but they most likely won't really be paying attention to what is being said. They aren't known for being loud, flashy or attention-seekers (though they must be number one in their work lives). This may sound a bit creepy and may remind you of the serial killer in a made-for-TV movie, but, hey, if the shoe (or glove) fits...So, the basic rule of thumb with Virgo: if they aren't the weirdo in the corner staring at you, you can find them at their desk. So go ahead and flirt with your workaholic co-worker or boss, they most likely are a Virgo!

So, now that you have it all figured out...get out there and start searching!

Next Up: Now that you got 'em, how do you keep 'em? A "How To Date Guide" for the signs
